Because that would give the west (US) one more excuse to think they were developing the bomb.
By keeping it as a signatory, they can make the claim they are not developing the bomb, just nuclear power generation technology.
And if they are developing the bomb in secret -- at any point they decide to use it, does it really matter if they had signed or repudiated the treaty? If they confirm they have the bomb, is the US going to have a different reaction based on whether Iran has signed or not?

The NPT is a landmark international treaty whose objective is to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons and weapons technology, to promote co-operation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and to further the goal of achieving nuclear disarmament and general and complete disarmament...The Treaty promotes co-operation in the field of peaceful nuclear technology and equal access to this technology for all States parties, while safeguards prevent the diversion of fissile material for weapons use.
By signing this treaty, theoretically, Iran should be allowed to have its own nuclear program in civilian purpose only...If they would repudiate the NPT ,this would be a good reason for US to attack them...Iran,unlike Israel ,does not have the full support of US...So Iran shouldn't be sanctioned, but then again,if this bothers Israel and US it must be bad so it must disappear...
I think that if we should be worried about something,we should be worried about Israel's nuclear weapons...

They essentially have. However they are using these treaties and resolutions and their perceived notion of being willing to negotiate to try and make the US and other western nations look bad by making them look like they are being inflexible. It is all a very large game they are playing and they are trying to pit the US and Europe against Russia and China. They must think that this makes them stronger, but I do not know how. I do know I would not trust the Iranians at all.

Iran is not opposed to the NPT. To withdraw from it would just cause greater international condemnation.

Perhaps they believe in it ! or may be , they can operate better under its cover ! etc.
Leaving the NPT could only be damaging to them, staying in, at worst is not damaging !
Israel is a friend of USA, don't you know, we have one rule for USA and her allies and another one for the rest of the world !

Well Israel is just being honest. Iran on he other hand will just sign anything without any intention of abiding by whatever it is they agree to. In Islam, a Muslim does not have to honor contracts made with non-Muslims
