You can download a program called bitlord or bitcomet(there's a couple of variations) that lets you d/l torrents from different sites(e.g. www.torrentspy.com among others) Just do a search for what you are looking for on the site mentioned above. The time it takes varies from item to item but the more seeds something has the quicker it should go. Just be aware of what format you d/l as you might need specific programs to watch them. There is usually comments on each torrent telling you about quality/how to convert if you d/l something you are not familiar with. Files ending in .avi / .dvix / .mp3 can be played easily on Windows Media Player or you can convert them to DVD using Nero. I found torrentspy to be very user friendly.I wouldn't recommend Limewire as you have leave an area of your computer open to other people to download stuff from you and its very easy to pick up viruses wheras with torrents you just leave access to whatever you are downloading which you can stop at anytime but it is considered courteous to upload at least as much as you download so the torrent doesn't "die".You need bitlord installed before you can download. It is illegal to download movies and music but as far as I can tell it isn't to download a *backup* copy of things you already own:)
