A plug won't necessarily limit your mileage. However, it would depend on how much tread life was left on your tire. If you plugged a tire that was balding, get it replaced. If you just got a nail in a newer tire, go ahead and run it for the life of the tire.
Plugs that are done properly SHOULD hold. If it's not done properly, it will leak. Check the plug if it doesn't hold air.

If ''plugged'' means flat, then it depends on the tire material.The new BMW 3 series sedan is designed to go 150km on a flat tire.
