Bring the family structure back to urban neighborhoods. Most of them don't have a father figure, or any other role models for that matter.

People Power, If a large group of strong, positive, intelligent people were to band together in their communities with a good plan of order and structure with the help of the police department
that would really help. It's sad to say but the way I see it the poor
doesn't stand a chance these days there's too much corruption
coming from everywhere starting with the law enforcement. It's a sad situation and one that will continue to grow because there's not enough concern, help. or morals left in people these days.
If there was enough money, concern, and love to truly help aid the mentally, emotionally sick , and to help educate the unlearned that would help also. If the President wouldn't continue letting in more problems then we can handle then there wouldn't be so many gangs as we are going to see in the future.

its certainly not overcrowd the prisons further, but rehabilitation doesnt work and is too expensive as well. Have really strict penalties for gang members, sort of almost Thailand or Indonesian style, where if you get caught stealing the cut off your hand.
If gang members get caught stealing, shooting, anything if they are known to be affiliated with gangs... a SEVERE punishment would fis it. They would abandon gang life out of FEAR of losing a limb or life, and FEAR is all that these people understand, since they are too far gone to be rehabbed!

I am amazed tha foreigners come here and study hard and become very useful to themselves and the society,while the slackers just want to belong to a gang and obtain things by force.

Label the activity as domestic terrorism and give them a choice:
Indoctrinate them into the Army or the Marines or strip them of their citizenship and deport them to a country the United States has labeled as a terrorist state.

less daycare- more stay at home moms raising their own kids...day to day care from parents will cut down the kids looking for 'family' feelings in gang relationships...

Change Idol icons images on T.V. On T.V you see rappers in gangs making plenty of money. Of course we know the story usually wont end up like that. It goes more like, young teen ends up dead or in prison.(Like my brother and cousin). RIP OMAR.

better jobs so families have a father at home
more churches so people have a moral to follow
better schools so children learn another way than the streets
