If you eat a lot of sugar your insulin level increases dramatically in response and that is not good for your kidneys, maybe also for other organs.

Complex carbohydrates are broken down slowly while the resulting sugar is burned so the sugar level in the blood does not increase that dramatically.

Eating a little bit of candy each fifteen minutes or so all day long would be fine as well. Except for your teeth.

Sugars break down quickly, turning into glucose. When too much is entered into bloodstream, insulin rises and forces glucose to be stored...sometimes as fat. Complex carbs break down slowly, so you can actually "Burn them as you go" and will not have to be stored as fat...there is much more to this , but Im limited here in my explanation.
