I was being driven in a car in England (I'm American)- it was after lunch there, and we heard that some plane hit the World Trade Center. We thought it was Uncle Joe's prop plane or something just hitting a part of it- then we saw the pictures. Because they hit two buildings, the cameras were ready to catch the second hit. When we tried to leave Heathrow Airport, we were on standby for four days!

I was in college at the time. I woke up just after the first plane hit the WTC. I just kept staring at the television screen, thinking it was a movie. I flipped between channels, and they all showed the same image.
I woke up my roommate, and told him "The US is being attacked." He rolled over and mumbled and I said "No, really. Look." I punched his TV on, and tuned it to CNN. That was when I saw the second plane hit.
I got dressed and drove to campus. I was a Journalism major, and it was very eerie walking into the J-School. Classes were going, but the instructors and students all had televisions on, watching the coverage. We just sat in class and watched in shock at all the events.

I remember watching the second plane slam into the Trade Center from Penn Station area in Manhattan. Trying to get through to family and friends who worked near or in the WTC. Going home on the railroad and seeing men crying over losing their wives. I remember sobbing uncontrollably a few days later, on a bus as we passed the memorial laid out in front of a firehouse on Ninth Avenue, this company suffered the most losses.
I remember reading the names of the people I knew at the Marsh and McClellan law firm who lost most of the staff because the second plane plowed right through their floor. I remember going to my cousin's daughter's memorial service that had no body because she was incinerated. I remember volunteering in the following days for the Red Cross. I remember trying to buy pizzas to feed kids at our office at some Son of a B*tch pizza joint who was price gouging, charging $25 each for the pies.

Sleeping until my phone started ringing off the hook. Back then I worked a night job. When I went to work that evening they pulled the TV out of the break room and into the middle of the office so we could keep tabs. No one really got any work done.

I live in Texas so when the first tower was hit it was only 8 in the morning here. But it was my first day at my first job ever. I was a cashier at a local grocery store and when people were coming in telling me and the lady that trained me what was happening.

I was in the waiting room at the x-ray dept of our hospital. My son was being evaluated for hydrocephalus. Luckily he just had a big head for his age. I remember being with my mom and we were driving home and all the gas stations had cars lined up and down the streets waiting to get gasoline.

I was on my way to pick up a piece of furniture when I heard the news on the radio. It made me cry all the way to the store thinking about all the people who lost their lives, & the loved ones left behind.

Taking my boyfriend to surgeon's office for follow up appointment. heard about it on the car radio. Got to doc's office, turned on TV in waiting room...and within seconds the whole office was standing there watching the collapse of the first tower.
My son was just about finished with basic training with Marines...and my heart broke into so many pieces for so many reasons.
