As of the recent astronomers conventions, Pluto would no more be a planet anymore, but rather as a dwarf planet, and it's status is not a moon either, as moon's definition is an object that revolves around a planet, and pluto revolves around sun.

A planet is the title given to a structure that orbits a star in a regular fashion.

A moon is the title given to a structure that orbits a planet.

Astonomers are debating the title given to Pluto because it is small and its orbit is irregular.

These are matters of opinion because no-one has decided what is big enough to be a planet and - as all orbits are irregular - how regular does the orbit have to be.

Oftentimes scientific specialists like to create unnecessary debate in order to get their own names in Scientific journals.

One needs to ask "How will my life be enhanced by the reclassification of whether or not an astral body fits one description or another?

Two questions have to be answered first,;
1) Does this object in question have a moon?
2) is it larger than the smallest of the inner planets (IE; mercury)

if the answer is yes to both questions, then it is a planet, if no than a mini-planet.
