There have been numerous times when the job was quite different that what the agency had described. Wasn't my cup of tea at all. Seems like a shady practice. The latest example is that I was told I would be doing a filing job. Told me to dress business casual. Turns out that the agency sent me out to the wrong location. I wasted gas to find the right location and then when i got there it turned out that folks were filing in a 92 degree auto body shop garage? What the hell? Have you ever had a similar experience?

I used to work at an agency. The info that they have is only as good as what the employer gives them.

Often, the employer will call because someone quits or is out sick. "We need a receptionist, fast!" The agency calls you because you have asked for this kind of position. What they employer fails to mention is that the receptionist also enters orders all day, files, handles cash, makes the bank run, or any number of other things. To the employer, the most important thing was the phones.

Also, directions are often gotten from Mapquest. If the employer gives 10th Street, but meant 10th Street E it can be confusing.

its kinda like buyer beware

temp agency doesn't have crystal ball and if they were to do the job themself to find out details, then they would not need you...HOWEVER at the same time they only get paid to fill positions so it in not always in their best interest to even want to know all of the details.

Their job is to find people to fill a temporary position. You are, in essence, their b*tch. To correct this, you can question your supervisor at the temp agency a little more thoroughly in relation to your jobs. Cite this occurrence if your answers are short and cryptic.

Because they are so eager to keep business from that company that they will tell their employees anything. And I notice a lot that their directions are wrong and lenght of time of employment is wrong too.

They don't because if they did they wouldn't fill the job vacancies. And yes I have had simular experiences.
