It's called faith, you have to have faith in something, not everything in the bible can be answered. It takes your faith to know there is something much bigger then us idiots around.

I believe in God because God is the most likely reason.
I don't think the universe could have come together by itself. It's a finite thing with a beginning and an end, whereas God is elemental and infinite, with no beginning or an end.
Also I see patterns of events that just can't be coincidental.
The world isn't a perfect place, but there are great aspects to it. If you dwell on all of its faults you will become really depressed, you need to 'smell the roses' once in a while. Appreciate natural beauty, and the selfless good deeds of the people around you. They are there, if you look for them.
Also, when you run into problems, its not because the world is a terrible place, its an opportunity for you to grow and develop also to understand yourself better. When you come through your "trial-by-fire" you can look back and be proud of how you dealt with it.
PS KJ, the Easter Bunny is a pagan icon. If you gonna be a pagan at least do your homework!

my understanding is as follows -
there were these two beings - both were eternal but only 1 of them was infinite - therefore for the 2nd being time was irrelevent - all things could and were known at once. the first being only got to know about things as they occurred - reacted to them without foreknowledge & therefore proved its limitations by implication & deafult. This 2nd being created a third being & called it the most perfect of his creations - the first being said - yeah rite, made of lesser stuff - does not live long & will only understand its eternal self after struggle. the y made a bet - to see resolve the first persons obvious contempt fgor the all powerful 2nd person. the firshas been trying to usurp the second since then - hence an imperfect and indeed challenging world. Ascension or to be 'one with seems to be a universal theme that seems to run through all systems of conciousness dealing with beyond life experiences - so in essence we are the guinea pigs in a test that 1 side is cheating on - ...more to come...

God never told us we were living in a perfect world. He has allowed us free will over our selves to make decisions whether they be good or bad. If you doubt the existence of the one and only true God, you need to sit down and ask yourself where all of the blessings you receive come from. What do you eat? Where does it come from?
The reason I personally believe in God is b/c I don't know of any other being that could have provided all I have. Sure we all have bad times, but that is just part of life. I would strongly suggest that you get back into Church. You have absolutley nothing to lose by going.

A lot of people believe that our life in the physical world is a test for the next, spiritual world. Are you confusing the world of science, which is based upon proving/improving our understanding of the physical world by experimentation and the use of logical thought with, the spiritual world, which is based on faith. It is reasonable to suppose that the spiritual world cannot be proven in a scientific way, because then, it would become science and not faith, and would be debased.
It isn't God that has made people imperfect, it is people themselves who exercise the choices given to them. If the physical world was perfect, then there would be no need for Heaven and the world would no longer be a testing ground for the improvement of our souls. If God micro managed our lives for us, then we would never seek to improve ourselves, or wouldn't care what choices we made, because we would blame it all on God if it didn't go the way we wanted it to. God, in these circumstances would, in our eyes at least, become just another ruling leader who could command our respect through fear and not through faith. I think that people believe in a higher force because, simply taking a look at the Universe begs questions that we are simply not equipped to answer. There are many people in the world who simply are too arrogant to believe that there can be a force greater than themselves. Left wingers, stand out in this regard because they have no religion except their left wing ideaology.

Us humans tend to put a miraculous spin to what science hasn't resolved or proved yet.
For the longest time, those thirsty for power noticed that the more ignorant their people were, the easier to manipulate and control. Faith proves to be the best way to control people. What's 'unexplainable' is then was taken as an act of God (for good or bad). For example, think of Astrology. Etymologically means the study of the stars, which indeed that's what it was at the beginning. Then came those who knew that they can benefit and take advantage of that knowledge (i.e. a Solar eclipse will bring evil to X village...blah,blah). That deviation from science led to Astronomy.
Same thing with religions, have you ever thought of how how many religions there are? Why? Who's right? Why anyone can create their own religion? How stupid can that be?
Yes, it is good to ask questions and read a lot. The more you read, the more you will understand that religions in general are forms to herd people to do and act a certain way (and yes, much of them take your hard earned money too!).
Unfortunately, the religious freaks have to much power. I recommend you, and whoever reads Yahoo answers, to read a lot, ask questions and if you aren't satisfied with the answers, keep asking and keep reading. You will notice that science has prove itself over and over.

God gave the world to men. He's not like an evil spirit that would force someone to do His bidding.
What you see today is the result of man's dominion.
God intervenes when someone who believes in Him calls on Him. And He's available to help those who choose His way. But He would force no one.
I believe in Him because I have a relationship with Him. This doesn't make sense to the human mind at first; but that's the way He designed it to be.

God made the world a perfect place....it is the human race in our own vanity and self serving ways that keeps messing it up. You also have to remember that in our short time here on earth that Satan is also loose. Do you want to follow him or follow God? Satan wants you to deny his existence and God's. If he has done that to do, his victory is complete and you've lost.
Besides that, common sense just says there is a God. Open your eyes and look around at how life is set up, how this planet we live on is arranged and set up and where we exist in the solar system and the universe. It isn't just a series of one milllion coincidences. It was purposely done.

I too went to church as a child and I too wondered if there was a God once I got out on my own. Two years later, I got my answer.
Around christmas, I went home and my father was complaining that his side was hurting. In 20 years, I NEVER heard him complain. We all joked that he should go to a doctor. Three weeks later, he came home from his job as a mechanic early. Something else he had NEVER done. This time, I begged my mother to take him to a doctor. The next morning (Sunday) my mother called at 6:00 am to say she was taking my father to the ER, at his request. My dad told the ER Doctor that his insurance would not cover him until 3 days later (he had started a new job 6 months earlier) and asked if he should go home and just come back then. The doctor told him that if he went home, he would be dead before 2 days.
I was shocked when I got back to the room he was in. My father was hooked up to all kinds of machines, one going down his throat and pulling this thick black stuff out. They took him into surgery.
Seven hours later, the doc came out and said that he had a hernia that imperferated his spleen, causing it to rupture, and that caused septic. Septic is an infection of the bloodstream that usually causes death. On top of that, he had a tumor on his stomach . (They grew a sample in a petrie dish and it was cancer) All of his doctors came in EVERYDAY and asked if we had funeral arrangements, there is no way he can live, blah blah blah. He was in a coma for 8 weeks. Every organ with the exception of his liver failed, he had 4 surgeries, and died (medically) 15 times.
After 4 months of being in the hospital, he came home unable to do anything by himself. They sent him home to die.
My mother was in the hospital by then. She had kidney failure b/c of the stress of worrying about dad.
I wondered "God if you are there, why is this happening to my parents??" They were good christian people who worked hard their whole lives, and they were still young. Not event 50 yet! And then, a miracle happened.
One sunday, daddy wanted to go to chuch, so I took them (mom was doing dialysis at home). Daddy went to the alter and prayed that he would be cured. A couple of weeks later, he went to the doctor to have a test done for the cancer. He had done this a few times before, and the cancer was spreading rapidly. But on this test, there was no cancer. He had no treatments, and at least 10 tests with cancer. He was tested some more, but God had healed my dad.
Three and half years later, my parents are in great health. My father's only lasting problem is nerve damage in his right pinkie finger. The doctors can't explain it, they call him Lazarus (who Jesus raised from the dead). And my mother got a kidney transplant last year that went so well, she was dismissed from the hospital 4 days after surgery.
In conclusion, to those of you who ask "why belive in God?" I ask , "how can you not?"

The Bible teaches that the world isn't a "perfect place" because of the fall of man into sin, which is to say man's rebellion against God's revealed will. The consequences of this fall is death, destruction and chaos. One reason I believe in God is that I've met Him in Christ; I've experienced Him.

What would the purpose of life be if we weren't growing? Would we be growing if there weren't opposition? Does automatically receiving everything we'd like or being spared the pain of growth make us better people? Perhaps He is a kind and loving Father who knows the only way to learn is sometimes the hard way. Have faith....there is really no good alternative! Good luck on your journey to find meaning.
