Most fish spend time in an energy-saving state that we call resting or sleeping. Although this is probably different than the way most land animals sleep. Fish will often lay at the bottom of the tank and not move, sometimes you can sneak up and watch them during this time. They can't close their eyes because they have no eyelids to do so.

There is still too little research on this to know what is going on when there in a energy-saving state though.

Yes, fishies does sleep. Like humans, they usually sleep in the dark when you turn your aquarium light off. They usually lay on the gravel or the floor of the tank, and they don't move. They would usally wake up when the sun comes up or the light is lit back on.

Yes; the only one who doesn't is the shark; if a shark doesn't swim it doesn't breathe. Most aquarium fish will go down to the bottom of the tank and sleep there...of course not having eyelids, they look like they're awake.

Yes and no they rest. Since they do not have eyelids they do not sleep but they do rest. Sharks have eyelids but the need to keep moving to push the water through their mouths to keep breathing.

Yes, they do. But the way they sleep is different from human because they don't have eyelids. So sometime, u can see that they seem not moving, perhaps they are enjoying their good rest. :D

No... their systems slow down to conserve energy but they never "sleep" like we do. The comment on the shark is not true... that answer is in reagrds to a shark being able to stop swimming... has nothing to do with sleep.

Yes, they do. They may not be great "thinkers" but, some even have a homing device that allows them to go to where their parents conceived them.
