You are making the same mistake as most Christians. God and the afterlife are two entirely separate issues.

Belief in God requires more than belief in things proven. There is no point in arguing about such things. Either you choose to have faith or you don't.

As for death: Does it really matter?

Check out St. Thomas Aquinas' ARgument for the exsistence of God. It has an inherent flaw in it but was widely accepted as a flawless argument that God does in fact exist, worth a read

If youre really interested, I suggest a philosophy of religion course at a local college or something.

Well personally, I do not see death as the end, rather than a new beginning. We are all spiritual beings having a human experience. The essence of who we really are is the soul. The body is just a vehicle for the soul.

I think it's more than just nonacceptance of death, but remember that it is relgious belief systems that adapt to us as believers, not the other way around (in general).

There's a new book called "Breaking the Spell" by Daniel Dennett that goes a long way towards developing understanding of how religious belief systems evolve in us, and help to explain why they thrive when they include a belief in gods and life after death.

this has got to be the most challenging question ever. to those who say there is no proof of god youre wrong. there is proof of a common tie between all living things. if you look at the human eye alone then scientists will confess that there are too many working parts for something to have evlolved into what we are. i like the proof in the banana. its made for man. it's color coded to tell us when its good to eat. green-too early, yellow- good, brown-bad. then look at how its wrapped and easily opened with the pull of a tab. its even shaped so that we can hold it and it go into our mouths.

This is a question you must decide for yourself.

Plenty of individuals--and many whole religions--find meaning and value in the belief in a Divine Being totally independent of issues of personal mortality. Theism is at root about finding meaning in life, not succor at the prospect of death.
