Please define 'real.'
Is pro-wrestling filled with written plot lines and matches that are decided before they take place? Yes.
Are the risks being taken by some wrestler truely that dangerous? Yes.
If you asked me if a plastic flower is real, I'd say yes, it's a real plastic flower. If however if you asked if it were a real flower, no.
I've been watching pro wrestling for 15 years or so, and I can usually tell the way a match is going to go within the first minute. That does not keep me from enjoying the show.
From what I've observed not all matches are decided before they start. Some are decided by the crowd reaction, some are agreed on by the preformers during the match, and some times, though rare, they simply can't agree on who will win.
I'd say about 50% of count outs are when the wrestler counted out feels he shouldn't lose to his opponent. Examples of this include Brett Hart's count out lose after being injured on a bad fall onto the guard rail (I believe his opponent was Don Muroco, but I'm not sure,) and Raven vs Lawler, where Lawler was expecting Raven to do the usual in Lawler's home town and job the match, while Raven was hoping to gain some heat by pinning Lawler.

When was the last time you saw someone on here say it's real? The storylines are made up, and the matches have pre-determined winners. But the athletic requirements are real, as well as the risk of injury. You go bounce off the ring and tell us how fake it is. It's like landing on the sidewalk.
There have been instances in which the guy who was set to lose the match decided that he didn't want to lose, and actually knocks the other guy out and wins the match. It's even happened when one guy gets p*ssed at his oponant and starts really kicking the crap out of the guy.
And people watch it because it's entertaining to them. Wow, I just realized something. I'm not sure and could be wrong about this, but maybe, just maybe that could have something to do with why they call it sports ENTERTAINMENT. Of course I could be wrong on that.
And two thumbs up to daviator201 for your comment. Give yourself a BANG! Self high five!

What the f*ck are you talking about, you ********. I don't see anyone here thinking wrestling is real. No one here thinks it's real; it's choreographed, although some of the wrestlers do get hurt, and things do go wrong.
And your "fat American" sh!t will be very offensive to some Americans and it also infers that it is only Americans that watch wrestling, well you're wrong cos anyone around the world can watch it.
The only reason WE watch it is cos WE find it entertaining, you might not, but screw you, its pretty clear that you are not a wrestling fan, so it really doesn't concern you.

The in ring things they do ARE real. Get in a wrestling ring and start bumping around and taking moves and you'll see just how real it is. If you are referring to why they think the whole show(the storylines and on screen relationships) are real, I think it's just because they want to believe that what's going on is really real. It's like if a woman watches a romance movie, the characters and story are fictional, but in their hearts they want to believe the whole thing is real and could happen.

The wrestling (as in the moves, and weapons) is real, but the storlyines aren't, and all the matches have pre-determined outcomes.
Very few people believe that it's real, but a lot of people choose to immerse themselves in it. Why? Becuase it's fun. And you're a racist. And I'm not American.

We all know how it reall works. We but like it. Just like a tv show, we know its scripted and fake but we enjoy it for entertainment purposes. Some younger kids do not realize that is all scripted or are marks and and ask stupid questions and are all pro "who ever vince is shoving down our throats" so they get pissed when Edge ***** smacks Cenas dad.
