Dumont will definitely not go to the Canadiens and Calgary has not shown any interest in getting him. (Both team's salary caps are basically at their limit and probably wouldn't be willing to get rid of some player/s to fit him in him even though he would be willing to be paid less in Montreal, his first choice for which team to go to.) According to TSN.ca and Sportsnet.ca Detroit is among the list of suitors so he may be on the wings for the 06-07 season but there are a couple of other teams that are also possibilities.
Sorry, I'm a Flames Fan too but it doesn't look like he'll end up in Calgary. Calgary doesn't totally even need another forward with the prospects it has. (E.G. Dustin Boyd and Kris Chucko)
Also, for 2.9 million dollars it's not surprising he doesn't have a lot of suitors, that's just expensive and most teams have full teams already. If teams needed a forward they would probably take Carter instead though.
:( sorry
P.S. You're right he will probably end up in the west, whether in Colorado or Detroit or another team.

Calgary is pretty strapped with the salary cap...I'm willing to wager Chicago or Boston. They both seem to have some cash. Carolina is going to need to replace the guys they lost to FA...he might wind up there.

yeah, we've all heard the rumors about montreal, detroit and calgary but he might just come back and sign with the sabres for the same money he made last year. he likes buffalo and we like him and hope he comes back. there's lots of speculation about this here in buffalo. check out the article below.

Bob Gainey will not sign J.P Dumont for 2.9 million he is not worth that much. remember most teams are close to the salary cap, and some teams still have room. but to see if its worth paying someone 2.9 mil is hard cause they could have 4 million left on the cap and can get 2 players for 2 million, so he might just lower it to 2 million then he will be picked up.
the reason why he is not worth $2.9 million, ill tell you why. 7 years in NHL 2 times had over 50 pts highest 54 pts. average points per season is 28 pts that's not someone worth $2.9 million maybe 1.2 or 1.5 million he is worth.

The Canadiens' fans are a little mad that Montreal isn't signing them. I think he's going to end up in Detroit however. They seem to be the favorite right now.

I know the Flyers can't afford him because they want to sign Gagne, and the primeau situation isn't helping. However, I'd guess the Rangers, Red Wings, or Avalanche are the likeliest destinations.

He will probably end up playing with himself this year!
Unfortunately he will become a stooge for the NHL to warn players against pursuing arbitration.
He won his arbitration, but now his $2.9 mil has to fit into a salary cap system.
It will get players in the future thinking twice about arbitration.
