I have two favorites - my first is Columbine, in any color, but mainly the blue-purple variety - because they don't depend on people to grow and be happy and flourish. They cover the Rocky Mountains in wild abandon, and they're so complicated in design that it makes you wonder how they can survive. My second is the California Poppy - the brightest that the color orange can ever hope to achieve, and when they cover the hillsides in bloom, its the most amazing thing to gaze upon! WOW!

Lillies - Even thought they are supposed to be for death I think they are the most beautiful flowers.
They can be closed and hidden one day, then before you know it they are open and beautiful.
The smell they give off, the texture, the colour - they attack most of the senses with a passion.
They are a very metaphorical flower. At one point they got me back on track with my life because of all the metaphors I found. (cheesy!)

Poppies.
The abiding symbol of our duty of remembrance:
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row by row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard among the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe;
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If yea break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
John McCrae

I think that red roses are the most beautiful flowers. To me they resemble Love and beauty. The smell is so vagrant and I could sniff one forever. too bad they die so quickly...

I love carnations, any colour! Why?
When I see a red carnation,
it reminds me of my Spanish nation.
I don't know, I'm not good at poetry! Sorry!

I like the 'volunteer' sunflowers that come up from my bird feeder. they are always a sweet surprise, attract more life (and good karma!) to my yard, and have not one but many heads to beautify the world.
