I always tell my students to take it easy the night before a big exam. Of course, spend time that night studying but also go to bed early enough to get a full nights rest (about 8 hours). The next morning eat breakfast. Don't skip it and don't eat junk either. Eat something good for you like oatmeal and some fruit. This will stick with you for awhile so you won't get hungry during the middle of the exam. Also, eating breakfast will give you the energy and nutrients to keep your mind from being foggy. If you get nervous before big exams, try doing some relaxation exercises before the exam starts. In other words, close your eyes and imagine yourself far away in some place you find peaceful and soothing. Monitor your breathing making sure that you take slow deep breaths through your nose. Oh, yeah. There is one more thing to remember, smile! Put a smile on even if you have to fake it. The act of smiling will help you to relax and feel calm and self-assured. Well, I hope this helps! Good Luck!!

Sleep well but not too much... most people function better mentally when they don't over sleep but actually get a bit less than the usual 8.
Eat a breakfast (preferably with a little sugar or fruit in it, as sugar is good for the brain) and stay hydrated
take a snack of peanuts or some kind of nut to the exam with you and have them as a mid morning snack. People say it helps, something in nuts that is good for the brain.

Eat a good healthy breakfast with a lot of protein, eggs, peanut butter, bacon...drink some juice and eat some whole grains with it. It will keep you energized through the exam. Stop studying about an hour before bed, and try to get to bed early enough so that you can relax and fall asleep and get a full 6-8 hrs in that night before the exam. Good Luck!

Don't eat turkey that day...it makes you feel sleepy.
The morning of the exam, make sure to have something sweet such as a cookie. This gets your brain active.
Get enough sleep.
Make sure to take enough breaks in between study sessions to let your mind absorb and not go blank right when you enter the exam room.

Yes, you need a good nights sleep, but there is no substitute for study, if you don't want to study you aren't serious about the exam.
