I was once a personnel manager and can say this is certainly a trying time for you. But with that said, you should research expectations of a certain company, or like company. Being overly dressed and wearing smelly cologne is a turn off. Sit up and answer the questions in a friendly and pleasant way. You are actually selling yourself. Never make an over sale; allow the hiring agent to lead you to that point. Be truthful; they will check you out. Usually they will ask neighbors, since you don't have any past job. The big thing, if you have ever been in trouble with the law, be up front. It is a violation of the law to not include you on a one-time offence, unless it is violation against a child.

Be Clean (most important)

Dress sharp, but dont go in wearing a suit, unless your applying for the manager position.

Shave (if you have facial hair)

Be confident, but not cocky. Smile, and be polite. Show that you have backbone, you stand your ground, but don't look too imposing.

Success? Talk about how you're looking forward to putting many hours in helping the store be more profitable, although Best Buy is a no-pressure-no-commission type of store.

Tell them that you also understand that Best Buy offers great chances at development as an employee and that you are looking forward still being here in a few years, until you finish your post-high school studies (guessing that you must be between 17-20?)

....half of what I said is obviously bullshit, but thats what they like to hear!

Leave in a month if you want, but hey theres great benefits working at Best Buy (COST PRICE ON 60'' TVs!!! DAAAAMN!)

Good luck, and hey, give 'em that killer smile!

P.S. Be confortable, make them laugh! It's always great to have an easy-going conversation instead of an interview....thats how most of the interviews I went through were like...conversations!

YOU CAN DO IT!

How old are you? I take it this will be your first job since this is your first interview. Are you fresh out of high school, or in college? What position are you being interviewed for? Geek? Technology? Communication? Office furniture? Dress the part. Look professional and confident in what you will be selling, even if you haven't a clue as to what you are doing, walk in with the attitude you are a fast learner and this will come to you easily. As for attire, Dress pants and dress shirt to match even a tie never fails. If you're uncomfortable with a tie, then wear your dress shirt unbuttoned at the top and roll your sleeves to give yourself the "Casual Executive Look". Customers like this and so do the employers. Make sure your shirt and pants are pressed well and not wrinkled. Make sure your shoes match and are polished with no scuff marks. Now for success.... If you are fresh out of high school and in college or about to attend college. Take your documents to show your grades for the type of job you are seeking or all the jobs opportunities that Best Buy has to offer. If you scored high in these subjects, they will be just as impressive as experience. You may have to start out as cashier or in the copy department, but with good grades to back you up in knowledge, you will work you're way up to what you are really seeking. If you look the part of what your goal is, and you show eagerness to get there. Keep a smile on your face. Not a silly smile, but a pleasant and satisfied smile. This will show in your tone of voice, your eyes (which are the mirror to you soul) and your facial expressions. Good luck! Wish I could know the out come of this interview :-)

Dress for success by wearing slacks, white shirt and a tie. You have had many successes in your life when you think about it: graduating high school, meeting deadlines (turning homework in on time; preparing for exams), any community or church service? Did you earn extra money by mowing lawns or babysitting? The employer is looking for your work ethic and stick-to-it-iveness. Brag a little, it's ok. Get a good night's sleep the night before, eat a good breakfast, and be yourself. And remember to get his/her card to send a thank you letter afterwards thanking him/her for the interview.

Alright my first job interview was at Hy-Vee and I wore a black suit and nice shoes..(like what I wear to Church)..and they complimented me on that!! Get to know people that work their before you go to your interview, because then they will (mabey) ask you if you have any references there, and just say their name and that they are one of your friends and your boss might talk a little about them and then that will give you time to think of an answer...and this worked for me, hope it works for you if you try this way!!

Look and act as though you belong there - not cocky or presumptive, but rather like you would fit in to their staff.

This is your first job? Trumpet your other successes - athletics, grades, community service, tutoring, whatever. The manager isn't a fool, probably seen your paperwork already and knows you don't have experience.

The main thing is - you're looking for a chance to be great.

Dress slightly nicer than what you see people wearing at the store.

Check out this article on interviews, too. It will help you get better prepared.
