A$$hole. Just because you don't have any good food or any decent holiday time doesn't mean Thanksgiving is something to be ignored. We're thanking the Native Americans and the Pilgrims, y'know? That's how it all started. Besides, the pilgrims were getting away from England... for a good reason.

I'm not an American-and I'm proud I'm not-but the idea is that the first English people who came to colonise North America (aka the Pilgrim Fathers) did not have any food when they came ashore and they were saved by some Native Americans who shared their turkey&potatoes with them. It's like thanking for the gifts of the (new) land, as it were...

We are giving thanks for our family and friends, the love and support they show us and counting our blessings. It's a reminder to be happy for the things that you have and not dwell on the things you don't.

I guess we give thanks for our families being with us, everyone being healthy. We're thankful that we can sit down and have a day to be together. It's different for everyone I suppose.
