They're not.

I get called Bill, Billy and William.

People ask what I prefer. I tell them, "Call me anything you want. Just don't call me late for supper."

That is the case in the South but in Northern areas the nick names would be Bill or Will. Guys that get stuck with "Billy" never seem to grow up. It's like they are stuck at 12 years old. Same goes for guys named "Jimmy."

Williams ARE (not is) called Bill OR Billy OR Will OR Willy. All are just nicknames for William. Just as Jack or Jock is for John.

They're not all called Billy.

There's Will and Bill too. And of course Willy. And some actually go by William.

yea i noticed that alot to..im not sure why tho..I guess billy is much cuter then willy..
