I spend a good deal of time in the sun, both in the states and in Mexico during the Winter. I usually do a few session of indoor tanning before heading from Minnesota Winter to Mexico. I've found that the indoor tan really seems to not be as deep, lot more surface peeling problems for me than natural sunlight.
Now your question refers to 12 minutes, that really has much to do with the type of machine, how new the bulbs are and your skin type. For myself 12 minutes would get me a bit pink but certainly not the same as spending an hour in summer sunlight.

I've heard that if you spend 20 min in a tanning bed it's like spending a whole day in the sun. Use a self tanner instead, your skin will thank you and you won't look old before your time.

Any amount of time in a tanning salon is equivalent to the same amount of time outside in the twelve o' clock, midday, sun. Therefore, it's the strongest it gets. It's your body, so whatever, but you might be better off with Jergen's natural building-tan lotion. It doesn'y streak or anything, but it's your body, therefore you choice...

Good Luck!

they are both bad..they both cause skin cancer..i rather just get a natural tan from the sun tho, because alot of people getting fake tans look really bad..and they are always orange

Stay away from both if you can, they cause cancer, sunspots and just cook your brain in general. There are some good but expensive creams if you must have that tan look.

There are many factors to consider so it is very difficult to answer your question - the bulbs used, the time of day, etc.

Both will damage your skin and both are believed to contribute to skin cancer.
