Cairo by flight - 140 sterling
Cairo over night by coach - 80 sterling
Cairo over day by coach - 55 sterling
Luxor by flight - 140 sterling

Personally I would go with the flight option.

Sharm-el Sheikh is on the Red Sea, a great place for diving. Of course you can go and visit Cairo, but that is on the mainland, so you will have to probably fly out there.
There is so much more than the Pyramids, hopefully you will get to see it all, the valley of the Kings, etc... Cairo is beautiful, messy, noisy yet an incredible place. They have a great museum there too. Have a great trip !

You can get an internal flight from Sharm to Cairo for about £100 per person, it takes 45 minutes. To book your ticket try Egypt Air official website for booking and flight details. December is the best time to go to Egypt. I recommend that you try a flight to luxor and Aswan instead of Cairo, you will love the Karnak temple, Abu Simple more than the Pyramids. Have a nice time

As stated yes but overnight trip. When I was out there the people who did it said that the Pyramids were amazing but it was all a bit too much travelling. Enjoy Sharm El Sheikh for its mind blowing reefs and go see the Pyramids on another holiday.
They do diving and snorkeling trips which are well worth doing.

Have a good holiday.

the pyramids are great, and the cairo museum is worth a couple of visits as it is very big!! I went in January and took the latest Lonely Planet Egypt book with me, worth it's weight in gold. I stayed in Cairo and travelled down to Luxor on the overnight train £68(english) return. (which really puts british rail to shame with their meals) If I were you i'd fly to Cairo for a day then maybe down to Luxor on the overnight train for a day before going back to Sharm by bus and boat (not far from Luxor). p.s. if you do decide to get booked on a trip, make sure you find out how long you are at the Pyramids and the Cairo Museum for, a mate went from Sharm, (which he enjoyed!) and they only allowed 30minutes in the museum. all details for flights, rail travel and buses etc are in the lonely planet book. I really recommend you get it.

DON'T DO IT THEY TRAVEL BY COACH FOR HOURS AND HOURS HAVE VERY LITTLE TIME THERE AND A HORRIBLE TRIP BACK
GO TO CAIRO AND TO LUXOR ON A TRIP FOR A WEEK OR TWO AS YOU NEED TO SPEND THE TIME
THE EGYPTIAN MUSEUM IN CAIRO IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD BUT YOU NEED TO BE THERE AT 10 AM TO BE THE FIRST INTO THE GOLD ROOM TO AVOID THE QUEUES AND BE ABLE TO TAKE PHOTOS EASILY
WE SPENT 4 HOURS IN TOTAL IN THE MUSEUM ALONE
TWO HOURS AT THE PYRAMIDS AND SPHINX'S AND ANOTHER HOUR AT THE CITADEL
GET A TAXI FROM THE HOTEL IN CAIRO AND DO A DEAL WITH HIM TO GIVE YOU A TOUR
DON'T GO FROM SHARM YOU WILL HATE THE JOURNEY AND NOT HAVE ENOUGH TIME THERE

Yeah, you can get coach trips to the pyramids. They're over night and take ages to get too though.
