What are the symptoms of MS? Lately my arms are tingling and I keep dropping things. My legs are weak and my feet tingle sometimes. A few people have told me it sounds like MS but every time I go to a family doctor or ER they tell me it could be severe allergies or a touch of myalgia. Not one physician has offered to send me for an MRI. Anyone had any experience with this?
If it is MS, what would my chances be of getting SSD if it gets worse. Right now it's hard to go to work some days and I have a family to take care of. Before anyone says I'm just looking for a way to not have to work, I have worked & paid taxes to support other people who don't work for over 20 years.

I went through the same exact thing you're going through! I was told allergies and myalga also. I went to 4 different doctors & to the ER twice. Some doctors just threw up their hands & shrugged their shoulders & said they had no idea! WHY didn't they send me to a neurologist? Or send me for an MRI? They go to medical school & should have some knowledge of what to about certain symptoms when it's out of their league. They should know who to send you to. I couldn't walk, was using a wheelchair. My husband was having to help wash & dry my hair because I couldn't use my arms to do it. I woke up one morning 2 years ago & my left eye was turned toward my nose. I had severe double vision & an ophalmologist sent me for an MRI of my brain. It showed lesions so he set me up an appointment with a neurologist.... Do your symptoms get worse when you get hot? For over a year I didn't know why when I would take a shower I would get so weak that I would literally have to pick my right leg up to get it over the side of the tub to get out. I didn't know why I couldn't go outside on hot days without getting so weak I couldn't walk.
You definitely need to see a neurologist! The only way to get a confirmed diagnosis is with a spinal tap & a neuro can do that in their office. Some will even put you in a hot tub to see how you react before they go through with the spinal tap.
As far as disability, good luck! I still have double vision because meds didn't work. Though not as bad as it was. My hands are still numb and my legs still get so weak I can barely walk..... and I've been being turned down for 2 years.

I woke up about a month ago and the right side of my right foot was numb. I waited over a week to go to the doctor because I thought it would go away. She told me that it could be some type of tendonitis because I'm a woman and wear uncomfortable shoes in the name of fashion. I, too, was scared about MS and asked her about it. She said that you should worry about MS if the tingling gets progressively worse, spreads to additional parts of your body, or if you begin to feel pain.

To be on the safe side, ask your primary care physician for a referral to a neurologist. Don't just accept a general practitioner's opinion if you're so uncomfortable that you're missing work.

Yes the symptoms which bu describe can occur in Multiple sclerosis
but the symptoms are very non specific And Carnot be attributed due to Multiple sclerosis

Usually In MS symptoms occur in one leg and signs occur in both legs

flexion of your neck may cause shock like sensations in your upper limbs and back

Usually a common presentation in MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS is optic neuritis so u must be having difficulties with your vision

i wonder weather u have the above symptoms

even if u do there should be objective involvement of nervous system involvement
Examination must reveal objective abnormalities of the CNS.............ONE OF THE MAIN CRITERIA for diagnosing MS

So u may not be having OBJECTIVE evidence
ifu do have then go to a neurologist

So dont worry and keep up your good work U will be all right

I have MS and I am a medical doctor.
It definitely does not sound like an allergy.
You need to see a Neurologist.

I agree with above, you need to see a neurologist. Make your doctor refer you. Good luck to you!
