What if the truth would hurt the person?

It the right situation... yes it is. I'm not talking a bold face lie. But if it might be to protect someone like their feelings or personal safety it just might be called for.

NEVER!! you should never lie........... it is much easier to live your life honestly and as an open book with nothing to hide. If and when you lie......... you have to remember all the lies you have told and you have to keep up with them and keep covering them up with more lies. Why would anyone want to live their life like that???? I don't have a clue. But I prefer to be honest and open. And if I can't get the same back in return......... then they get the boot the first time around for now on!! I went down the road of forgive and beleive it won't happen again. NO MORE!! Once a lier is always a lier and you can NEVER beleive what they say.

It's really never appropriate to lie, but i feel that there is an exception when you are trying to protect someones feelings

never unless you like being lied to. think of the situation is it one that you would accept a lie in and also think of the person what type of person is it how do they feel about the issues and would the truth be more or less beneficial to them

a majority of the time honesty is the best policy but if you are trying to save someone from being extremly hurt i can understand why one would lie

never appropriate, but it can be used to cover up smaller mistakes that dont have lasting, damaging effects, or to protect yourself temporarily.

When your protecting yourself or a friend from TRUE danger.
Like if people have a death wish on them...
If not in that situation it's not ok..
