I think because people feel they have to put the blame on someone other than themselves - they feel food is an addiction and that I guess they feel McDonalds is their addiction - so they blame them for not making it healthier - even though McDonalds is now offering healthier choices on their menu's if one cares to order them.

One thing I see people point out all the time though and it kinda gets my *goat* (so to speak). Now I'm not overweight - and yes I do go to McDonalds or maybe another fast food place occasionally for a change when I'm not in the mood to cook.
I will order a burger or something and yes I do order a DIET pepsi - am I fooling myself into thinking I'm doing something good for myself??? HELL no!!!! I prefer the taste of diet soda over the reg soda's - always have and always will - it has nothing to do with anything else and dieting. Yet you always hear people blasting about those that order diet pop with these meals - some just actually prefer it ya know :-)

The same reason they blame music, television and movies for crimes. They blame teachers for bad grades. They blame the way the world is for a child's bad behavior. They blame cigarette companies for someone having cancer. Drug dealers for their addiction.
It is because they won't stand up and take the responsibility them self. I smoke, if I get lung cancer, then it is my fault and genetics that caused it. If my kids are bad, then it is my fault for not teaching them and correcting them consistently. If one of my kids gets a bad grade then it is their fault for not doing the work and studying unless they truly tried their hardest. I am overweight, I gained it while pregnant and haven't been able to take it off, once again my fault. If I got off my butt and dieted and exercised the weight would come off. If I see sex on TV, it doesn't make me run out and have sex. If I hear the lyrics of a song and they are violent, I don't act on it. If I play a video game that is violent, it doesn't make me go out and kill people. If more people would start teaching children to take responsibility for their own actions then there would be less lawsuits and most of the ones there are would actually be warranted.
Oh and the diet coke thing with fast food. Many people only drink diet soda, they don't like the taste of regular ones. I can't drink regular soda because it burns my sinus's but I do like diet soda.

People do this because they think they can. I blame no one but myself for being overweight myself. I try to stay away from any type of fast food what so ever. Its hard, but I am on the right track. I have even stopped eating junk food as much as possible.

Some people think its alright to order a big mac meal (or2) and then wash it down with a big ole Diet Coke, thinking they are doing something good when they aren't.

Because they can't take responsibility for their own actions. Its not the I eat 3 times a day at McDonalds. Its their fault because they use too much oil..or their fat content is too high. Its the society we live in.

They don't want to assume personal responsibility for their own lives. Although McDonald's is not blameless, not by any means. There are strange hidden ingredients and calories in their food. But the solution is just don't eat it, not whine about it if you got fat on it.

Because they have no sense of personal responsibility. If they eat too much, it can't be their fault, so let's blame it on McDonalds/the "food industry"/genes/etc.

Because they don't want to accept that it's their fault they're fat. It was rough for me realizing that I was my only problem in the weight area, then I got angry, and then I took the weight off. But some people just can't deal with the fact that they're the one with the problem, not everything else.

because they besides being fat they are idiots who need to be told that its their own fault for eating all that junk and they chose to buy it and eat it. They also need to be told to exercise. Soon they are going to blame the gyms of being fat LOL (stupid fat ppl)

It's really ridiculous that people do that. It's like blaming the cigarette for giving you cancer as you light up another one. They just don't want to take responsibility for their own actions.
