Since breaking my talus bone (foot/ankle) i have been terribly restricted.I have constant pain and my walking is restricted, i certainly cannot run again. Is this a true result of this injury or is there more that can be done.

I broke my ankle in 5 places four years ago. Seems fine now. I had a really good young handsome surgeon in Connecticut named Dr. Ruwe.Pronounced Roo-eeey . I jumped off a wall wearing platform ankle boots. My father always said" you're gonna break your ankles in those shoes." I was 36 when it happened....

Hi sounds to me the fracture of the Talus bone never healed correctly to me,that why you are still having alot off problems still. Was you in a plaster cast for this injury ?You really need to see your Gp explain to him the problems you are still getting, ask him to refer you to the orthopaedic team in your local hospital where you will be seen by the consultant,he will then examine you, send you for a xray and then decide what treatment you will need, either physio or surgery.I fractured my lateral side off my ankle years ago, i had surgery a plaster cast for 8 wks and i still get problems with my ankle still by the consultant said theres nothing else they can do for me so now i have to live with the aching and the weakness off my left ankle. So go see your gp and see wht he says,Good Luck

Talar fractures are bad. Oteoarthritis is more of a rule rather than an exception. The bone is part of a very complicated ankle/foot joint, it makes contact with tibia above, calcaneus below, and navicular in front. It bears weight all the time, involved in turning in and out of foot. Very difficult to align it after fracture, very difficult to immobilize after fracture. Sorry dude, you will either live with it for life or need correctional surgery....

Having broken the joint, it was more susceptible to arthritis. You probably now have arthritis in this joint which is why you're now having difficulty with your mobility and you are in constant pain. Welcome to the club my friend.

For pain relief might I suggest: (a) Go talk to your Dr very nicely and say to him/her DF118 - this is Dihydrocodeine (30Mg) and Paracetamol (500Mg). You can have up to 8 of these per day BUT NO MORE!!! They are good pain relief medication - I too have arthritis and I use them - trust me!!!
