Well usually adolecent nudity is optional in these communities. I myself had parents who were nudists but it was completely optional for me and my brother, and also thier friends never forced it on anyone in the community. We would go on trips to nudist resorts but You don't have to be naked. I guess in my mind I never saw a real problem with it but ur right..Going through puberty is hard enough so thats why parents never really push the issue...at least the ones i knew.

Nudism focuses around the idea that our bodies are not purely sexual objects, but normal and natural and nothing to be ashamed of. If your niece and nephew were raised to hold this idea about their bodies, then it stands to reason that they would do things like walk around naked together, hug and kiss (the same way siblings do when they're very young and parents think it's cute, or the way a mother can kiss her son, or a father his daughter, etc.) They probably see it as normal family affection and not sexually oriented. The same is likely true about showering together and sharing a bed. When you take common sexual norms out of the equation, these are just practical ways of doing things. Two people in a bed is warm and comforting, and saves space since you only need one bed, not two. Two people in the shower is socially stimulating (I know I enjoy having someone around to talk to while I shower. It's pleasant) and it saves time and water. These things look sexual if you grew up in an environment where such behaviors were discouraged unless you were "mommy and daddy", or later on, in an intimate relationship, but try to imagine if you were always taught that such things were completely normal and innocent, not in the least bit sexual. You'd have no hang-ups at all about such things, especially with a sibling, family member, or good friend. Have you caught them having sex? If no, then in this context, you haven't caught them doing anything sexual, because they very likely have no sexual intentions. Why didn't their father just explain this too you? Well, figure that to him this is a normal way of life as well. He clearly believes in what he practices, but even nudists generally know the problem with incest, and he was probably insulted t first by your remark, so he probably took the defensive and decided he doesn't owe you any explanation at all (which, to be fair, he doesn't). If you want to know more, you might consider approaching him again, this time from a more neutral standpoint. Tell him you're sorry for making bond assumptions and "getting in his business" as it were, and go on to explain that his lifestyle is different to you and you'd really like to understand it ore. Agree to listen with an open mind, and DO SO, and I'm sure he'd be willing to explain his philosophy to you. Just don't jump the gun when something doesn't appear norml to you. That doesn't necessarily mean it is exactly what it looks like, nor does it mean it's bad.

Well I am a nudist and I have raised two girls as nudists or in the nudist lifestyle. We as a family always went to nudist resorts and nudist beaches when we traveled. The Family Nudist Organation promote family nudity.
I am not sure why most of the people are concerned with nudism amoung children as children are natural nudists. Parents teach their children about how to feel about their bodies and those feelings are carried into adulthood.
Today there is a lot of concerns with child molesters and preverts. It seems that it is very ramped in the textiles (people who wear clothes) and as per capita the nudist resorts and communities seem to have little of that reported. You see one eason is most of the parents of children of nudists understand that nudity is not about sex. It is about the body and the acceptance of the body. Most parent that raise their children as nudist, free thinker explain the facts of the nude body to there kids at a younger age. As I and my children mother explained the fact of life and the difference about being nude and sex.
The problem arises when boys and girls finally realize that they are men and women with urges. No one prepared them for this time. It just happens and they talk to their friends an older boysand girls. They get all worked up about the bodies. Parents hide their nude bodies at home and children want to see what the hiding is all about. They become curious and want to try more and exciting things.. No wonder pregnancy is high in this country in the textile communities.
In most cases at nudist resorts the families that raise their children as nudists, you will find that the adolecent boys and girls are not that curious about the body and are not so apt to experiment in I will show you mind, if you show me yours. Nude body is not a big deal.
All family nudist resort have rules of no sexual actions will be tolerance. In fact the kids at the family resort we have visited, have a better safety record for their children that in most cities. The grounds are usually restricted to just nudists, couples, famlies and are guarded. The requirements are strictly enforced, so my two girls were more safe at a nudist resort than going to school or walking home from school or going to the mall.
If you understand that nudity has nothing to do with sex. Then you will understand that family nudity is a good thing and should be promoted. There are several teenage christian nudist resorts and each summer just for teenagers. For over the fifity years they have been in exisitance there has not been to my knowledge any problems as you textiles would think. Before you condemn maybe you ought to look at the facts.

Perverts will be after your child whether they see them naked or not.
If children are raised not to think of nudity as specifically sexual then I don't see where there is a problem. Americans have sexualized the human body so much that women can't even breastfeed without idiots becoming offended. Nudity is a natural thing.
We live in Japan where there are community bath houses. We go on a regular basis. My boys don't think twice about seeing people naked because they are so used to it. It is just a natural thing. If they are raised with a healthy perspective then what is the problem?

I am a 16yo girl. I do not come from a nudist family. Until about 2 years ago the idea would have horrified me.
When I was 14 my parents took my brother (who is 1 yr younger than me) and I to the coast for a holiday. He and I went to the beach one day while Mum and Dad did something else. I went for a swim, got dumped and lost my bikini top. My brother and I searched for it for ages but never found it, and neither of us brought a shirt with us so I had no choice but to stay topless until Mum picked us up late in the afternoon. I was embarrassed for the first hour or so, but then got used to it.
Since then I have enjoyed swimming topless in our pool. I luv swimming topless and habing no tan lines. I happily swim topless with friends, male and female. Some of the girls go topless and some dont. I have swam nude a few times but only when no one else is at home bc M&D don't let me otherwise.
Although the initial experience was embarrassing, I think I now am a lot more confident about myself and have a great self image. I absolutely think no one should be forced to be nude, but I think teens can be encouraged to go nude (or girls topless) in the safety of their own homes and it can improve their self image.

Nah, it's just a way of life. Americans are just prudes, that's all. I am not a nudist myself, but from what I hear, adolescence is actually easier in a nudist community.

Kids who grow up in a nudist environment will not view the naked human body the way the rest uf us do .This society is obsessed with nudity and sex and pornography and thats what we identify the naked human body with, they, on the other hand will grow up to see nudity as normal and natural without perverted thoughts.

Currently there is one state where public nudity is legal. All other states in the United States have anti nudity ordinaces. In two hundred years public legal nudity will only exist in the eastern part of the United States and some western states. It won't be until the 2490's that public nudity is legalized in the United States for all 53 states. There will however be some western states that will legalize nudity in three hundred years.

It depends on how one is taught about nudity. The human body is not bad, as some feel.
My parents were strange, and so wrong------they would not even be nude in front of each other-they each dressed in a different room. As far as how I got here-they had it dark and could not see each other, as that is nasty and a sin. That in itself is sick, and worse than proper nudity.

Why would it be any harder than it is now? After all, if sex, nudity, puberty, "bodily functions" etc. are nothing to be ashamed of (which I agree about), then why would it be any worse naked?
SparklingButterfly : True, we would need to worry about sicko perverts :( But I don't think it's an issue of "morals or laf of morals", rather "one person's morals versus another's".
