Mathematically you would have to have 100,000,000 million separate pennies to equal your million. The current USA population is almost 300 million. So you need a third of the population to respond with one penny each or hope that you get multiple pennies from a single person reducing the figures.The shear volume would be overwhelming. The other option would be to accept the penny electronically like from paypal or something but then you would have to factor in paypal's cost and generate another $100K -$200K to cover expenses and overhead.
The effort would still be monumental and probably just as challenging if you invented a product and marketed it on QVC
or HSN. Have you ever watched what was being sold on those channels and in what volumes? Forget the charity and find a niche and fill it!

that's actually pretty clever, except for that many of those people are either poor, or extremely selfish, or a baby, who doesn't know what a penny is in the first place.
but i'd give you a penny. in fact, i'd give you two. =)

I thought of this awhile back too, you would have to advertise this, and I think it would be more expensive than its worth, you need to ask for atleast a dollar
