Why is that, funny how if I question the administration or any aspect of America, I'm a Democrat Liberal, but how do they know that. I might in fact be a Republican who finally sees clearly at all the party's flaws.

actually it's worse than that. The right wing majority has determined that everyone that does not 100% agree with their agenda is a "liberal".

Not wholly dissimilar to calling someone a 'Communist' in the 50's.

If you have been inoculated with the bug of Republicanism you can not escape its clutches, you must flee and then you are labeled ,do I dare say that word"LIBERAL" oh I'm going to hell I said that dreaded word..
I have decided to classify myself as a thinking liberal rather than a bleeding heart liberal,as I don't look at social programs blindly,I don't advocate big government and I am open to other views ,not just the Democratic party.I would never vote republican, that is still unthinkable, and I will never vote independent or other party because I do not wish to splinter the Democratic vote. But the candidate I vote for better have a viable plan to stop the flow of illegal immigration, and its not wholesale amnesty,a plan to defend our nation and an exit plan from Iraq.Either win it or make plans to leave it,but do something and soon.

labels are forms of categorizing. most people who disagree with republicans do so because they have other ideals and beliefs that more closely relate to the ideals of the liberals or democrats.

however, questioning and criticizing the the administration does not mean that you are liberal or democrat, it just means that you have a half a brain.

There are plenty of republicans who question the administration, but they still are aligned within the main beliefs of the republican party--pro-guns that kill, anti-abortion that strips women of their rights, no taxes for the rich, no separation of church & state (direct opposite of why this country was founded).

Everything is not black & white, and right now I think a lot of people are torn between the two extreme ideals of both parties. We want a middle ground.

No. Republican and Democrat are political parties that give people "guidelines" on who to vote for and what issues to pay attention to. Liberal and Conservative are ways of thinking on issues. Liberals want to move forward or create change, while Conservatives want to move backwards or follow tradition.

There are people in both parties that have what would be considered the "opposite" way of thinking than the majority. For example, the sentence "All Democrats are Liberals" is misguided; there are some Democrats that are Conservative. And the statement "All Republicans are Conservative" is also wrong; I'm a Rebulican Liberal.

So in the end, if you're not Republican doesn't make you Liberal.

see the problem is... people like Mel T and others just can't really grasp what you're saying...

"party has flaws... does not compute" is basically what many of them are saying... they don't realize that often the most important member of any party is those that don't agree, because they keep the party from making mistakes...

you have a very "emperor's new clothes" situation in the current administration... everyone is so entrenched in the idea that we must support the president that they don't realize that some criticism is good... I mean for Christsakes that's why we have half the rules in the Constitution...

now granted, every Republican isn't like this, but all too often today, those who don't agree are shunned

It's a funny situation. Republicans and Democrates don't want other partys to challange them so they fight to keep the two party system. Then we tend to think of people as conserative, moderate and liberal depending on their views of various issues. To pick two examples: If you believe gay marriage is ok you are probably liberial. If you believe in economic freedom and low taxes then you are probably conserative. So what happens is that the Reps have many conseratives some moderates and few liberals. Dems have many liberals, some moderates and few conseratives. That was the general historic view. Todays Democratic party has been taken over by the radical Liberals. They control the money available to Democratic candidates. The perfic example of this change is how the Democratics have treated Joe Liberman (sp) in Connecticut. Joe voted 90% Democratic but went against the Liberal Anti-War movement. He voted his feelings and the Liberals went nuts. So thats were we stand today.

Questioning does not make you a liberal? Why are you ashamed of being a liberal? If that is what you believe than wear the label. I am a card carrying right wing conservative, I believe in the right to keep and bare arms, I believe in the right to keep more of the money that I earn, I believe in standing on my own two feet and turning down the government cheese that so many are too eager to take a big bite out of. I believe that I have a right to pray before my son's football game and to salute the flag, I believe that I have the right to tell you that I think your idea's are leftist propaganda. However I also believe that you have the right to tell me that the way I think is backwards and dimly lit. I believe in freedom, I hate war but believe that freedom isn't truly free. Those are my idioms, I have no problem in standing up for my beliefs and am proud to be labeled a right wing conservative. GOD BLESS AMERICA! If you are liberal than scream what you believe just make sure that you really believe what the party stands for.

Who knows? I am really neither simply because corruption has infiltrated the status quo at every corner you turn. Birds of a feather, you know how it is.

If you are not part of the push for globalization then you are labelled against it. This is truly what it is all about right now. The Republicans are very aggressive towards a global manifest destiny whereas the Democrats might want to live peacefully with the rest of the world.

There are liberal Republicans also. Republicans and Democrats are only parties. Being Liberal is a way of thinking.

its all in how you think. I am a democrat and happen to be a conservative, like JFK was. I am not a radical like some of the very conservatives, democrat and republicans alike.

To be liberal, you have to beleive that no one thinks for themselves and the government has to step in and help each and everyone of the people. In essence, treat them like kids.

A conservative beleives that you dont spend more than you take in, you have to be responsible for your actions and above all, willing to work to fullfill the American Dream.

I am sure there is more than this simple explanation, but I wont bore you. If you watch or listen to the media, then Democrats are all liberals who are nuts about the environment, welfare, and big brother taking care of each and everyone. They depict the republicans as right wing whackos, religous nuts and not take or help anyone who cant help themselves.

If you are a Republican that has finally seen the party's flaws, you have ceased being a Republican, haven't you? I don't understand what you mean. You call yourself a Republican even though you don't agree with them on anything?
