every school year's end... my parents give me cash as a reward... for good grades and maintenance of my scholarship...(its too early to say that i will have good grades but im doing very well) i was planning of surprising my bf for a boracay trip... i haven't told him yet or haven't gave him a hint of it... today, i went to the mall and saw a macbook... and i was tempted to buy it instead of the boracay trip...

hehehehehe... my laptop is still working very great... but for sure if i will tell this to my bf he would definitely tell me to just buy the macbook... (for my use... i willl not give it to him) instead of the boracay trip... i know him very well... if ever i chose the boracay trip he will insist to say no... so im planning to really surprise him and set everything so he can't back out...

my question is: macbook or boracay trip w/ my bf?

Sell your laptop and look for a US-based friend who can buy you a Macbook there which will probably come out to close to half the price of what you will pay for here. Then try going to Boracay during the lean season so that you don't have to pay the steep prices during the summer.

First of all, what do you need the Macbook for? I mean, what do you plan on doing with it? Are you getting it plainly for aesthetic purposes? Sorry, but to me, a Macbook in the Philippines is bit expensive, not only for the actual price, but also for other things like software and maintenance... sorry to preach, i know its none of my business... its a great laptop by the way, i just thought Phil is more of a PC territory... anyways... the boracay trip depends solely on how you feel about your bf... and if you really need the macbook now.. its a rev A, so Apple is still fixing some issues... though they (issues) won't stop you from buying one if you really need it.

You're pretty well-off (or your parents are) to have that choice to make. For most pinoys, the common question is "do I pay the doctor or the rent this month?"

Anyways, here's my suggestion. Sell your old computer at retail price, which is higher in the Philippines somehow, buy the MacBook, then settle for a shorter more budget-conscious trip and schedule to Boracay. Best of both worlds, and be thankful.

Just remember, you can always give that 70,000 PHP to some indigent family of 5 to live completely off for at least a year.

Your parents give you cash reward ?? wOw you are a lucky filipina. I know people who would never have that choice in their entire lives. One of my best friends in the Philippines only has the choice of pawning her cell phone to help pay rent on time, or giving what little she has to support her younger brothers and sisters in school. Think first,,,,Do you really need a Mac book or a Boracay trip ?? Seeing as you already have a lap top. I would recommend that you donate that money to a better cause, but hey,,,,,who would listen ? Be thankful for what you have, you are one of the lucky ones

Hi there...a trip is a memory forever and the MacBook is a worthy investment to help with a educational endeavour. I think your parents would be proud if you considered your educational needs first. However, if you believe your boyfriend would want you to have the Mac too, maybe you two can come up with a great an alternative getaway since he's thinking of you first. What a wonderful boyfriend to have as you are such a thoughtful girlfriend too.

The macbook will be there.
(and even come down in price)

But Boracay... is something that you two can add to the memoirs of your relationship.

Carpe Diem! Sieze the trip!

experience and time and happiness can never be buy by money alone. you can buy the material thing later, that is,if you have a strong faith with your bf today that he will be the one for you.
go for the boracay but i think boracay is not the only good place to go and you might not enjoy there fully with your bf,you migth want to try and look for another place.

Boracay is a strip of bars filled with prostitutes. I would not think it would be a suitable place to go with your BF. The place is not for a place I would go with someone I cared about.

Your parents gave you money for you and not for your bf. I wonder what will they feel if they found out that you are saving that money for others.
You are still a student so let your boyfriend spend for you, then after you graduate and earn your own money, i guess you have all the right whomever you want to spend your money with.
