black is definately the best, though a real dark red one can be pretty stunning

For historical undies, plain muslin will be best- it won't show through your gown or bleed dye when you sweat.

For modern, visible corsets, any bold color- black, white with embroidery, sapphire blue, emerald green, crimson, teal- go with what looks good with your skin coloring.
I've seen some gorgeous brocade corsets, too.

I like black or red or black and red for fun purposes... I have a great one that I got at a toy party... it's like teal with straps and thigh highs haha only wore it once but it was fun and my man liked it!! My fav color is purple but it looks wierd w/ my complexion!! I didn't really answer you I guess, you have to go with your mood/the occasion!

it really depends upon the purpose.
if it is for real-life use, I'd opt for white,nude or cream colored as it would be easiest to conceal no matter what you wear.

if you are 'dressing up' for fun, go with black, red or purple. Purple is my favorite.

And if you have a guy in your life, ask his opinion!
