I entered the criminal system at age 14. I went through detention centres and "homes" under all sorts of different and trendy names and ended up shipped to borstal at age 16. I was released shortly before I was 17. As an adult, I went on to complete 4 1/2 years out of a total 7 1/2 years in two sessions, all for crimes of violence. I still carry scarring across my lower back and upper bum from both the formal and "informal" corporal punishment administered in those times, and have experienced the joys of bread and water and the cold hose in solitary confinement. I found myself at the wrong end of the birch twice as a teen. And I have souvenirs of a proper "hammering" on both feet and hands.
So yes, I have been to prison. But not in the last quarter of a century.
I hear it's all so much more civilized now :o)

I never thought I would know someone who's been in jail but I know lots of them and one is still in jail and will be for a long time.

My co-worker's boyfriend Angel went to jail for some drug possession. I participated in "Government Day" at school (yes, I'm a nerd) and I was slated to shadow the City Solicitor (city lawyer), who's a friend of my dad. Anyway, after the tour of the courthouse, the cops were dragging Angel into court as I was coming out. "Hey Diana, what did they get you for?" he said as we passed. My father's friend looked at me like "You hang out with THAT kind of person???"

ive taken a tour through one, but ive never been locked behind bars.
my daddy went to jail for a few months. hes the only one i know of.

Me, never....my ex husband got arrested at Mardi Gras in new orleans for something he didn't do, and my current husband was in jail for a couple of days for beating up his sister................
