It seems, and I see it alot on this forum, that when a person points out a fact, and provides proof to the fact, he gets bashed and called names. Specially if the truth/fact is not in favor of America. Why is that?

Melt T- you are correct, my questions about the patriot act had not references to it, but if you read them, you would find out that I was trying to get information not stating facts, that's why is called a question.

Well here is the problem. How do you know what someone says is indeed a fact? I can give you an answer, but you'll find it unsatisfying if all you want to do is point out american flaws.

On every continent, in evey country, in every town all over the world, there lives a group of people known as "The Ignorant" or as I like to call them "Dillholes". These people are not enlightened, not open to suggestion, not willing to accept a difference of opinion and certainly not going to think that any country could be better than their own.

People hate, and people love. People are smart, and people are dumb. Judge each person on their own merits, and not as a whole. American or otherwise.

If you insult someone, they will most likely fight back, no matter what country they live in.

If a person fails to offer documented facts from a reliable source that may happen .But if you offer a fact that is only your version of a fact and not a universal fact then we as Americans voice our doubts. And then there are the sheep that wouldn't recognize the real and universal fact/truth no matter what you say.So facts and truth become lost somehow in their narrow minds.
But as an outsider looking in on our America, you may voice your opinion on our government and our country if you like, but we Americans get very protective and defensive when you /they the outsider starts ranting about us as a people or our country. We can see our governments faults but its our right to voice decent not yours,so expect people to tell you to buzz of,or worse.
Personally I feel we are the best of all worlds and I'm proud to be an American.I don't critique other countries,I may rag on its people collectively ,but I don't down any country but France and that's obvious why I do that lol

What facts? Some of your questions regarding the Patriot Act contained no fact, for example. If you want to know the facts, you must read the actual documents. Listen to a lot of news. Read a lot. And still, sometimes opinions differ. There is a lot of people that believe their opinion is fact. That's part of politics.

Yes, the truth hurts and most people dont want to hear the truth. We are fed a line in the print and electronic media, on what they " think we want to hear" but most of all, what they " want us to hear."

America will always be the redheaded step child in the world because people are jealous of our prosperity. You see people trying to imagrate to Amercia, but not to Russia, North Korea or China do you??

Many Americans ignored the truth prior to Pearl Harbor and if you look the same thing happened prior to 911.

What we need is a major dose of the truth, and tell the rest of the world where to go and how to get there. If they dont support us, we dont send them money. That is simple.

what you describe in not aversion to the truth, but plain old childishness and immaturity. Is american culture immature. I think so. A lot of people never move past the school yard even into adulthood. I am also willing to hazard a guess that the majority of those bashing the 'naysayers' of today's America are all a little on the childish side of the fence, clinging to their "brand" of America learned from TV and Radio, empty of critical thought, and full of well-rehearsed one line responses that show the myopia and shallowness of such a perspective (Thanks, Conservative Talk show guys....you've sloganized politics, and thus made them abhorrently shallow and stupid). Am I going off a little? yep. I am starting to think that the whole thing is just a big waste of time. There is no room for reality and honest sober evaluation of the world anymore....we are going to go down in a ball of fire if we keep on this track of infighting and infantile fit throwing when faced with something we don't want to hear.

Unfortunately the majority of the world hates the truth, it's not just the Americans. Although I would say due to our position in the world we have more people who love the truth than any other nation out there.

As long as humans are human, one man's truth is another man's lie.

The truth hurts and it is much easier to repeat the mantra over and over again. The television tells them everything is great and they buy the same BS that the talking heads feed them. God forbid they do any research as they might miss "Survivor" or some other mindless piece of trash.

Americans, just like all others, do not like to hear truths that challenge or contradict their strongly held beliefs.

My father used to say: A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.
