Las night, @ the dinner table w/my kids and my husband, out of nowhere, I felt like I got a "panic attack". I felt really wierd. Like I wanted to like blackout or faint. I felt a little dizzy. My feet and hands got really cold and I was kinda shaking. I felt like my blood pressure took a huge dip. I am not diabetic and I don't have b/p problems. I went and lay down flat w/my knees bent. Then I just went to sleep. Any idea what caused this? I hope this doesn't happen again, but if it does, how can i "get out of it" next itme??

First of all if you feel a panic attack comming on breath deeply and hold it for a moment and exhale fully, breath well. Lying down may help - most of all try your best to relax your body and mind. You also may try putting your head between your knees to get more blood to your brain and hold off the "pass out" effect. Another technique is to get some ice and a wet hand towel and blot your face with the cold towel.

First sit or lay down. Relax. Focus on an object on a wall. An example would be the hour hand on a clock or a lamp in a room. The idea is to trick your mind into concentrating on something and slow the panic and/or anxiety attack. Also remember to breathe slowly and take deep breaths every now and then. Something this simple can make it go away.

I've had panic attacks before. They are awful. Supposedly they are caused by an inbalance of a chemical in the brain called ceratonin. They can be treated with medication. Go to your doctor and get help.

Well I would say that you had a panic attack. Several issues could have caused them, but to not self analyze, it would be best for you to go to your doctor and he may recommend that you see a specialist. The attacks most likely will continue, so get some help.

Sounds more like hypoglycemia (sugar dip) than panic. Panic attacks have fast heartbeat, sweaty brow, feelings of panic. Had you not eaten all day?
If it is panic, an author named Weekes has good books out.
