Totally curious. I don't have this, but a close friend does, and she needs to take a variety of medications for it. I'm just curious if there are any alternative remedies she could seek.

Thanks.

Try some Zen exercises. It may be a buddhists belief, but you allow your body to help itself.

Hello, I'll try to answer to your question...It might sound bleak, but I must disappoint you, as OCD (Obssessive Compulsive disorder) cannot be neither cured nor alliviated with any Alternative medcines, in reciprocity natural remedies. I am not a sufferer from OCD, but I have extremely clear idea about it, because I also have a close friend of mine who suffer from it and I was in one of the researcher teams about new drug therapies on OCD and Anxiety disorder. The reality is it's mostly a condition due to the imbalance of substances, vital for the normal neuro-transmitted reaction in the brain. Usually the treatment, of course, prescribed by a psychiatrist consist of a SSRI anti-depressant ( Venflaxine is one of the top choices, when we have a patient with OCD) and a "moderator" medication of the mood ,such as for example Valproic acid ( Depakin consist it). It is very unwise and even pernicious if the person withdraw by yourself the intake of the administered treatment. Good luck!

She should seek dietary supplements that are minerals, that releases negative ions of elements that benefits health. These minerals have a calming effect. If a person does not act normal, usually it is deficiency in a number of chemical compounds that the body needs to function normal. Drug companies have already identified these compounds, but it is not for everybody. The best are these minerals that are negatively charged.

I'm wondering if past life regression therapy might help. I don't know for sure, but it's worth a try! I'd also track down Soul Doctor on Answers. He seems to know homeopathy pretty well; he may be able to help, too. There may also be some herbal therapies or aromatherapy that may work to help balance the body. A naturopath would be the best place to start. To find one in your area, you can go to www.trinityschool.org. They have a list of graduates on their site, and they're listed by state. Hopefully, you can find one near you. Good Luck!

Behavior modification instead of drugs would be the only alternative that I can think of.

Try St. John's Wort but make sure your friend knows that it can interact with some medications, e.g. the pill.

the way to treat without meds is immerison therapy. Just slowly explose them to those things that cause the compulsion. Show the flaw again and again

Hypnotherapy is a wonderful thing but whether it can help with this I don't know. I too have heard that cognitive therapy is most effective.
