Have you tried mixing some cereal into his fruits?

Cereal isn't necessary for babies, despite what the cereal manufacturers would have you believe. It's basically just extremely processed vitamin-fortified rice flour- and I don't blame your boy for not liking it. :)

I would just give your boy the mashed fruits he likes- although, he's getting near old enough to handle big pieces of fruit and feeding himself. Try him on other flavors if he seems interested, but I wouldsn't even bother with jarred baby foods.

Don't worry about it, though- solid food is only for fun and practice for the first year, anyhow. A baby's primary source of nutrition should be breastmilk or formula for at least that long.

If your concern is iron (I know many peds push cereal for that reason, especially with breastfed babies), then I would try to feed your baby iron-rich foods, rather than given him cereal.

As many have said, add the fruit to the cereal but also know that babies like us have likes and dislikes. If your son doesn't like the "feeling" of the cereal in his mouth, then maybe there could be an alternative or you could try adding a pinch of sugar to it to make it more sweet verses bland. My daughter would not eat vegetables at all until I added a "pinch" butter. You may also try making his cereal with other things. If you make it with his milk, try using a fruit juice or plain water. Good luck to you!

I had the same problem with my son. He hated baby cereal. What I found worked really well was mixing the ceral with baby jar fruit and instead of water to mix the cereal I used formula. They are use to the taste of formula so it helps. He took to it well. Good Luck!

Don't sweat it, my first daughter was the same way. Give him foods that he will eat for right now. Keep trying to introduce the cereal every couple of days. My daughter took until she was about nine months old to finally eat the cereal. In the mean time have fun just teaching him to eat normal solid foods.

Try mixing his cereal with some fruit juice. And if you are not doing it, maybe try heating it up. You could also try different textures. Maybe more liquid or less. My experience with my children was if they got to the good stuff, they didn't much like the baby stuff anymore. He will certainly eat when he is hungry. I would also try talking to the pediatrician, if you are really concerned.

Try boiling your own veg and put alittle baby rice in it too. My daughter loved spinach and rice and tomatoes, all pureed and soft, she loved it.
Not all babies are the same but she never liked baby cereal-so i made my own food for her and she was happy. the only thing she liked ready-made was chocolate pudding and she would have that just for desert.!!
Dont get stressed, this days will pass...just be patient and and slowly you will find your babys taste buds. GOOD LUCK...

just lightly cook some veggies and mush them up. My baby refused store bought food and eat fresh fruit...mush it up too. Soften cheerios. That's all a six months old needs...Then when your baby gets bored with all that move right up to the table.

Breast feeding is the best recipe for any baby till 1 year. it gives a life long protection against all allergies like cold, cough, headaches, eyeglasses in a small age. Also, try little boiled rice smashed well with ghee.
