If rugby was better than football, why is football the national sport of the UK? And why are there so many more football clubs - professional, semi-pro, and amateur - and ditto for fans? You're asking a rhetorical question, of course rugby isn't better than football; I mean rugby players don't even understand the basic principle that a ball has got to be round to roll or move well! Football is more of a sport for all, whilst rugby isn't even taught in a lot of schools except where there's a strong regional influence...and in grammar and private schools. And Jimmythebull - don't go correcting the question poser to Americanisms, football is NOT soccer to most of the world, it really is FOOTBALL.

I would say rugby is better because it's a more physical sport than rugby. Rugby players are put through a lot more hardship than football players and its a more exciting sport to watch. But that's just my opinion.

RUGBY obviously, the players are gentlemen and they play the "game" without arguing with the ref and afterwards they will clap each other off the pitch without any animosity. its enjoyable for all the family as the crowd mix together in the stands regardless which side they are supporting and just enjoy the game for a good day out. And its not as expensive, the only reason we dont see any games on television is because the football clubs are ruled by money and greed, its not for the sport at all.

Rugby has much more skill involved and i have never seen "a fat man playing catch" in rugby, even the larger players have to have a high level of fitness.
So yes rugby definately.
Footballers are very overpaid and the game is also ruined by the amatuer dramatics.

rugby.. rugby is just so spontaneous. football has burst of energy but rugby is constant action, its always fast on the feet, fast thinking, fast passing. watching big tackles is so satisfying, tries, conversions tackles. with football a goal, and it is on average that they score about 3 goals in a match. tries have such a great build up. football unfortunately is more popular but that should change. at my school we have loads of foreigners, germans, spanish, 6ft tall, huge, but have never played rugby, they are natural beasts but are too soft. a rugby player has brains and if you say theydont they will slap you. rugby is a great sport, if there was any sport it would be rugby, a 15 man team or women, with football only 11. rugby you have the forwards pack, and then the backs always working constantly together.
RUGBY
if england played america at rugby or their so called "american footaball", england would kick A $$. they do't wear that sissy helmets or stupid aromur, do more harm to yourself.
gum shield, rugby boots and you own god given body is all you need to play rugby.

Rugby is football, hence club names ending RFC (Rugby Football Club). I presume that by football you mean AsSOCiation Football (Soccer). Given the many differences between the them, I would think it is hard to compare the two. As I am a fan of neither, I'll just take my two points and wait for next F1 GP.

No one sport is better than any other. It all comes down to what you personally enjoy playing or watching. I like rugby much better than American football, soccer, league or aussie rules but it's just a personal preference.

Heck yes in my opinion. Football (are you referring to soccer or Grid-Iron) is a sissy game whereas rugby is all-in-brawl action, the balance between big men and the not so big, battling it out for a leather/rubber ball then diving precariously into the ground and thrushing it into the earth! God, it's the best sport in the world! LoL, have a great day:)
Peace
