There is no "best notebook", generally you will have to decide between size and weight and power. Ultimately it depends on what you use a computer for. Someone that justs surfs the net and does email does not need a lot of power, while a gamer does. If you travel to adventureland a lot you may need a waterproof or ruggedized notebook. It all depends.

I heard that a Dell laptop with a lithium (or something else) battery type actually explodes when it overheats. Stay away from it.
For gaming, try Falcon Northwest. It's far better than Alienware.
BTW, Dell just bought Alienware. So expect some changes in products.

I would recomend Acer. They have some of the best warranty coverage around and their customer service reps are very helpful and don't treat you like a number.
