I just got my first job which will require my wearing a suit on a daily basis. How many suits should I own? Also, how often should they be drycleaned?

Go with 3 for summer 3 for winter to start with. You need 2 black suits. One lightweight for summer, one heavy for winter. The other 2 summer ones can be lighter colors. The other 2 winter ones should be gray and navy. As you make more money, of course you'll add to your wardrobe.

Where your variety will come in, will be in your shirts and ties. With a different shirt and tie every day, it won't be noticed on Thursday you are wearing the black suit again, because you'll have on a yellow shirt with a blue patterned tie. (as opposed to the blue shirt Monday with the blue plaid tie)

Be sure and buy extra pairs of pants, because they'll go to the dry cleaners most often and so wear out faster. As for how often to take them, you'll just have to judge how "dirty" they get. Do the sniff test! (I know, icky!)

Find out if your company allows sport coats and slacks. That will give you yet more variety!

Ideally, you should have one for every day of your work week.
You should have the pants cleaned every week after each wear. If the jackets weren't "dirty" then, maybe every other week.

If that's a little out of your budget right now, then buy suit separates instead of a full suit. Get two or three jackets, and two pants for each jacket. You can even find the fabrics that can be cleaned and pressed at home for even more money savings, if you want to take the time to do it.

Try stores like the Men's Warehouse or department stores, like JcPenney, instead of designer and high end stores.

you should have at least two to start out with then buy another two within the next couple of months. Make sure you have loads of shells and blouses to go under the suits. Personally, I'm a huge t-shirt fan and Ann Taylor has great t-shirts to go with your suits as well as other tops. You should get them dry cleaned at least after every four wearings. Just take it off as soon as you get home and look it over to make sure there aren't any wrinkles, spots that need to be removed, etc.

as much as ur pocket can afford just have a lot of different color dress shirts and cordinate (buy a shirt each week). and the dry cleaned part is ur choice if u have a lot don't dry clean them all at once cuz it would cost too much (try one a month). just make sure u manage ur money well. And congrats on the j-o-b too
