'Dwarfies' and 'Whovians' are normally so cool? I know it's unfair to generalise the former as something like Comic Store Guy on The Simpsons but, trouble is, I'm a punk rocker and I've managed to have a brilliant and informed twenty minute conversation about the TV test card and neither of us came across as sad as that!

There will always be a 'cool undertone' to fans of all things ..
I mean there are always people who like the current 'pop' bands because they are trendy or because everyone else does .. and then there is the guy with the David Bowie t-shirt in the corner of the room looking knowingly at them, safe in the knowledge that he alone rules the universe :)
Dont hate the anoraks ..feel for them .. lend them your 'smoke me a kipper I'll be back for breakfast' t-shirt and bask in your own personal glory :)

Hey cheeky, my husband is an avid fan of both Star Trek an Star Wars and I can quiet assure you he is no anorak, he watches it, he doesn't live for it, he has a very open scientific mind that's all, he's also a Dwarfie fan, a Whovians fan, a stargate Atlantis fan, battlestar galactic fan and any sci-fi programme fan he can watch, but he does have a life away from these programmes, just because they like them doesn't mean they live for them.

I think it's because Trekkies are usually really into it and have no other interests. Whereas, Dwarfies and Whovians have lives beyond their chosen programme. Also, I think there's probably more Trekkiness than there is of the others.

star wars is the best, star trek is the second best. And studies have shown that the avarage trekkie IQ is higher than the avarage IQ of none trekkies.

trekkies and starwars buffs are not anoraks, my bf loves both of them and he's pretty cool actually, although they have no interest 2 me he's happy liking them

Don't diss Trekkies. We out-number you. I liked Dr.Who as well as a kid. The new Whos don't do it for me like the older ones did.
