I was in NYC 2 years ago, and visited the WTC site, ground Zero. I don't have the words to express what I was feeling. In my wanderings, I did find a memorial, a sculpture that had been outside of the WTC, a globe sculpture that was supposed to represent world peace. It was misshapen, dented, torn. A single flame burned nearby. To me, that symbolized what has happened. The world has been torn apart, but there still is the flame of hope burning. "Teach your children well.." "Love one another"

I've thought a lot about it, maybe because it's the 5th anniversary. I live within driving distance of NYC and I've been to NYC a few times since then, but I still have not been to the site. I think it's something that I personally have not been ready for, but I really would like to visit it next time I'm down there. I'm very disappointed there's not any sort of a memorial yet.

The thing I remember most about that day was just the undying need to be with my family, to hold them and love them.

Hokay! Please let's not all become xenophobic on the topic of America; it's a great country, with great people....different languages and cultures all rolled into one. Commemorating tragic events like 9/11 will be painful and heartbreaking enough for the families of the victims and also for the fortunate few who "came out" alive from it, so the thought of marking this "horrible day" with anything but respectful silence for 3 minutes in our own places of work or at our homes, in remembrance of those who have passed on to a better world, would be doing great injustice, a great disservice to the memory of the many loved ones who very unfortunately were present, at that place and time, that this tragic event took place!

Let us all learn to love one another irrespective of creed, color, or prejudice, for the time is not far when the survival of the human race will be in the hands of those who choose one path over the other, of love over hate!!

Cheers!

I don't live in NY, but what happened to Yorkers is something horrible. Even today when I remember those shots of a plane hitting in the twins...and all innocent people...

Im sorry but no i am not going to. I see no point in going back to death and destruction and remebering all that pain only to feel it agian, its in the past, we should keep it there and look at the present, we are in a war, is that not enough pain and suffering, need you remember more??

no. although i sympathize with the victims, it will only serve to hurt again these healing people. it will arouse again hatred to other people which will lead to discrimination.
