No. I dont think so. Im not saying that i dont believe in God (because i do) but i know that what we think of as 'God' today, is a projection of only those things we understand. (ie. God is a man. God created the earth and the heavens and mankind in the sense that we, as man, create... etc) We cant comprehend anything beyond that because we dont know. So our beliefs in Him and our entire system of beliefs, is only as good as our level of intelligence and comprehension.
I think that before man was able to think, and form ideas about God, there was still a higher being. I dont believe that that Higher Power can fully be defined by what we understand the words "exist" and "God" to mean though.
So i guess i believe he existed in the same sense that man existed before man had any concept of 'self'. But that the idea of 'self' and the definition of which, did not.

Indirectly this question implies to the old debate about the existence of God, that is: is the concept of God a creation of human mind? If God is a concept then it is the extreme, the ultimate or the absolute. Anything this great that is beyond complete consideration or the full grasp of our rational mind cannot be a creation of human mind. Nothing can create anything greater than itself, either in size or in the magnitude or the excellence of its attributes. Even if the concept of God IS a human creation then this is more like an act of discovery, than it is an act of a creation.
God does not exist in the sense that an ordinary mind is prone to perceive things and people around. If we consider God as a finite entity than we exclude ourselves for Him. Anything that is limited, like people, place and things around us, with some other things abiding the universe separately cannot be God - if we are not God then where we are God is not. This type of reasoning is fallacious and wrong because we try to define the indefinable.
If God is a discovery then He is a discovery of capacity to perceive something that in turn will again be the definition of the concept of God, as we know Him now. If in our mind we do have this capacity as we always had, as when we do not think we still retain a capacity for thinking, similarly we always had a capacity for to think God almighty, and this capacity is the proof of the existence of God in itself. When we were very young, for example, we did not know anyone but we attached ourselves with our parents because there was a place in us for this. If a man does not think he is not a man but a beast, or an animal. Our thoughts have capacity to think and seek improvement in all things; the question is, why? Why do we think of God, why not think only of things that our senses can confirm?

Yes.
Did ideas exist before man had the potential to think them?
The universe is filled with possibilities that have not occured yet however the potential is there for the ideas to exist.
How could things have come about if there was nothing in existence to create these ideas?
The would have had to have been there already.

If you believe in God then you believe he created man, which would therefore mean he existed before man had the capability to comprehend.
For the record, I'm not claiming this is what happened, this merely is an idea.

thats an excellent question......
No...I think idea of a supreme being or God was created by humans to to create some sort of an order in society, to put the fear of an all seeing, all powerful entity, who has to be placated by offerings and good conduct and who would punish the ones that dont follow the laid down rules.

That's the 50 dollar question? Answer YES and you are a believer; answer no, a humanist. I suggest you read about Joseph Campbell. Personally, I say choice B.

you don t know what s means God, what s means man and what s think, so is better for us to search our being for answers than describes fully sentences like observers of nothing.
