Number 1 is the former soviet union, but they are divided now so I don't know if they are still on top. Second is the United States. Only thing is U.S. doesn't export oil, and still import because it is a heavy industrialized nation.

In terms of oil exporting countries, however, there is Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, Venezuela, etc. etc....

The middle east is heavy on oil.. Specially Saudia Arabia.. Of course United States has quite a bit itself, but it wants to use the rest of the Worlds. In the US, most of the oil comes from Alaska, or Texas..But yeah the middle east is loaded..
