My son is 15 and everyday when he gets off the bus there is a 16 year old boy there with his dog. He tries to get the dog to bite my son every day. This boy is in special ed classes so he gets home before my son does. Here's the problem.. yesterday the boy is at the bus stop with his dog as usual but yesterday he had a knife. The knife was in his hand and he made the dog bite my son. It only bit his shorts (no skin). He proceded to tell my son and another boy that he was going to cut them. He went home and threw the knife in the garage and got out an ax and was coming towards them. The other boys mom was there at this point. We called to police and to make a long story short they did nothing! They said that it is not a crime to have a knife in public and he could have been cutting an apple ot cleaning his fingernails! The dog bite was never an issue because it never broke skin (it very well could have) Anyways, I want to file a grevience on this officer. What do u think? sorry so long!

The kid is at the bus stop just to harass the kids. The cops went and talked to the mom and she said he will not be there anymore. My son even told the cop "if somebody is trying to get their dog to bite you and they have a knife in their hand why is that not considered a threat?" He said what was I supposed to do say "have a good day". I think I will call his cheif and go from there. Thanks everybody!!

The 16 year old is in a special ed class, does that mean he has a disability of some kind? Firstly, the officer should have a written complaint sent to his superior officer, and secondly this boy should be punished, disability or no disability. It is a crime in Australia for a youth to carry a knife or any other weapon. The Law has been made for people with a disability to have the same rights as we have. That means they have to accept the same punishment as we would get if we were to do the same thing. In all fairness though, I have seen many cases where a police officer will do the right thing, charge the boy, then it goes to court and the judge will throw it out. It is a common story from Police that the paperwork they have to complete and the process that needs to be gone through is massive, and to have it all over-ruled by a judge sees a lot of Police officers very frustrated indeed. But that doesnt mean you shouldnt complain....In this particular case, it was a very serious offence and your son could have been injured or killed.

wow, are you kidding me???? special ed or not that is definitely inappropriate and threatening behavior!!! An AXE!!! I'm sorry but how do you remain so calm???? It is not the point that the dog only bit his shorts and didn't break the skin! The point is the dog attacked your son and the dog is being used as a weapon, if the special ed boy can't control the dog and restrain it at ALL times outside of his home he has no business what-so-ever bringing him to the bus stop! You need to put your foot down and stop accepting this behavior from this boy and family just because he is special-ed....If he killed someone with the Axe would that mean it is OK because he is special ed????? No excuses!!! If you can't control yourself in public then stay at home there are laws about this stuff you know!!!!

I had a situation where my neighbor had 3 rottweilers roaming his front yard with no restraints and 1 of them bit the neighbor kid, at that time my 3 girls were very young and i told him to put the dogs on a leash when my girls were out front playing...he was young and cocky and told me to f*** off, i called the police and they told him to put the dogs on a leash...he put the dogs in the house until the cops were down the road them let them out! I would immediately call again and they would come back and the same thing would be repeated! This went on for months, finally I'd had enough and I told the police officer that if they didn't do something about him and the dogs that I was going to hold the CITY reponsible for not protecting my girls...the following week i had a court hearing with the neighbor and the city told him if his dogs are not restrained at any time they will be confiscated and euthenized (the dogs were documented biters and were kicked out of his brothers city that is why my neighbor had so many).....I never saw the dogs unrestained ever again!!!!

I would contact the police department and explain the situation to them, asking what can be done in this situation. Do not file a grievance at this point or express any negativity towards the officer, this may not help you get what you need from the police depatment (they tend to back their own, right or wrong). Look up the city codes yourself in regards to having a knife in public, etc (esp. a minor).

I would also contact the school district. Talk to the bus people and let them know what is going on. This boy has no business at the bus stop unless he is picking someone up. Talk to the school he attends.

Talk to the boy's mother. Let her know what is going on. She will probably tell you he is harmless. Turn it around on her -- how would she react if someone were doing the same to her son?

Finally, I'd be picking my son up from the bus stop for a few days just to see how things go. I'd also consider picking him up at school for a while too if things got bad. He may be embarrassed, but he'd be safer.

Unfortunately it happens so many times where the police dismiss an incident such as this as time consuming or not worth their time to write up reports.
This type of behavior from the 16-yr old is indicative of the possibility of more violent behavior in the future.
Personally I would contact the management level at your police department and file a complaint, secondly I might advise your local child protective agency and advise them of the incidents which have taken place.
Hopefully you have documented the dates and places of these actions and/or have some sort of record, if not then start immediately.
Nobody know what goes on in the minds of people like the 16-year old nor what they are capable of doing without forethought or provocation.
Get busy on this immediately for the safety of your son and other children.

I think that your right because if something was to happen where your son had to defend his self the officer would have probably given your son a ticket. No matter if the boy is in special need classes or it does not give to a reason to try to attack someone. You need to find out where this boy lives and talk to his parents before someone gets hurt.

If nothing happens then I think your son needs to kick his *** on good time after that he will stop, but first make sure that you attempt to solve this problem in another way and keep documents for your on good just in case you have to take into court

Good Luck,

the officer should be reprimanded. nearly fifty years ago i got hit on both knees by a "special" student. every time, the weather changes or my knees lock up, i remember getting hit with that baseball bat. you need to call chief of police or next step up. this kid is a serious threat. good luck

Do they go to the same school? I would be sure to call the boys school and talk to his parents. Something should be done about it.
