we have a math project at school and we have to take anything related to geometry, algebra, etc.
we cannot take a topic related to statistics b'coz that is already taken by most of the people.

Make a sextant
use a straw, protractor and a plumb bob to make a device to figure the height of an object. you tape the straw to the bottom of the protractor, attach the plumb bob(string to a washer) to a string to the center point. then you stand X ft away from the object(one side of the triangle), the angle on the device will give you one angle of the triangle and it will be a right triangle so that is 90 degrees. use what you know about triangles to calc the height. but dont forget to add the height of the person using the device. you will have a tangible use of geometry and you could make a poster showing how it works with the math on it. It will go over very well if you can figure out what i am talking about.
topic would be geometry. i think this would constitute extra credit.
i found some instructions.
contact me if you use this idea and let me know how it goes

I really liked trigonometry. I don't know if that's an option for you but it was interesting to me. It's all about triangles and things along those lines. The only other ones I've taken are statistics, Finite (which is like statistics) and calculus. Calculus was hard, but I managed it!
Good Luck!

Discover the formula on how to make an image in the newspaper or magazines move just like in Harry Potter Movie. Its cool and its amazing. There should be a mathematical equation underlying that idea. Calculus equations I guess.

Why not look into the 3x + 1 problem? This is such a
simple problem to state, but notoriously difficult to
crack! See what you can find out about it.
