Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
and sorry I could not travel both
and be one traveler, long I stood
and looked down one as long as I could
till it (not sure...) in the undergrowth
then took the other, just as fair
though having perhaps the better claim
for that it was grassy and wanted wear
though (not sure...) the same.

(Something something) for another day
(something) way leads on to way
(not sure)
(something)

Two roads diverged in a wood and I--
I took the one less traveled by--
and that has made all the difference.

(It's worth looking up the bits I've forgotten)

It's actually a song, but the lyrics are wonderful. The original is by John Lennon, but Mary Chapin Carpenter recently did a re-make.

Grow Old Along With Me

The lines I can remember are...
Grow old along with me,
The best is yet to be.
When the day is done,
Face the setting sun.
God Bless our Love.

Grow old along with me,
Two branches of one tree...
etc.

Of course, it depends on your relationship to the octogenarian!

Happy Birthday to Him or Her. I hope its a wonderful day, with many to follow.

Wordsworth's "Sonnet to an Octogenarian"! Okay, not really, as he paints a pretty sad picture of the age of eighty.

Seriously, Wordsworth's "Glad Sight Wherever New With Old" might be good, although it's pretty brief.
