I'm wondering.. i only have one person in my life that i see and enjoy being with on a regular basis (other than family or my b/f)
that has been in my life since i was a child. How many people have a a few or even one person they consider a true friend and would not want to be without in your life? (other than family or significant other)

My best friend and I have been buds since 6th grade. I'm 32 now--21 yrs and still going. I learned a long time ago that true friends are hard to come by and when you find one you had better hang on to them.

I have three friends that I have known for 22 years (gawd I sound ancient), and my next closest friends I have known for 17 years. I make friends very easily, however true friends are far apart. When I lived in the UK, the people I met there were really important to me. I couldn't imagine living without them. But today, 5 years since I left, there is only one that I still speak to on a regular basis and that I expect to be friends for the rest of our lives.

True friends are hard to come by. I have had the same best friend since i was 11 years old, I'll soon be 30. For my 30th birthday, I'm taking her out for a spa treatment and lunch. Its rare to turn 30 and have the same friend you've had for years. Especially female friends.

I am 40 and have a friend from grade school that I still talk to every week. He's my best friend and one of the few people in this world that I trust completely...everyone needs a friend like that!

My friend and I have stayed friends for a very long time, he and I met when he was 20 and I was 19, (back in 1979), here it is 2006, and we're still very good friends, we always will be... I guess that's the only friend I've kept this long... everyone else has moved on and I've lost touch with them.

I still get together with some guys I met in grade 1 and I am now many years out of University.
Gets tougher though because there is less and less in common.

Well, I must be the oldster in the bunch. I've had one friend since 8th grade (46 years), one friend for 30 years and another for 20 years.

My son has had one friend since preschool (20 years).
