There is a very severe blood shortage in our hospitals nationwide!! Only 5 to 7 percent of those who can give blood actually do!If you don't, the time to start is now!!! What if it was one of your family or friends on the E.R. operating table and there was no blood available to save them? How would you feel? Please give! It is very simple and it only takes 45 minutes of your time!!!It is easier than you think!!! Be a silent hero! Make a difference to someone else!

Thumbs up to you for bringing this issue to the light again. We should all give blood, you never know when you will be the one to need it. Save a life and give some blood. Thanks to all those who give of themselves!

I am Property of Commit for Life. I give at least four times a year.

Interesting note, my father had to have surgery and we wanted to use my blood. Even though I named him as a beneficiary, the blood center said that it would cost an unbelievable amount of money to actually use my blood because of the need for a rush in the testing. I even made it easy for the blood center and gave AT the hospital my father was in. This was very upsetting for all of us.

But I do agree, those that can handle giving blood truly should.

The last time I tried to donate blood I had a low iron count and they wouldn't take it. That was several years ago.

I can't. I have had a transplant and take drugs for that and they would be present in any blood I would donate, otherwise I would gladly donate blood.

I would like to thank any of you that read this question a nd decide to give blood, I had a couple of units after my operation, please think about doing it.

Yes, I do donate. It is also important to get others involved. I always try to recruit someone to go with me when I give. Hopefully others will donate.
