I was in a circle of friends and dated one of the men for a while. When we split up it became really awkward and i lost touch with my group of friends. How do i make more?

Try going to clubs which you think you will enjoy, take a relative if you don't want to look lonely and just try and start a conversation with the people there.

I agree with the go to an evening class, everyone is at the same level and because it's adults it's normally a good crack if you pick the right course.

Hanging around pubs is OK, but when you are female most people think you are on the game - I hate that! Men can sit in a pub no probs, but try doing it when you are female.....

Do you work? Parent? If you work then arrange a good staff night out.

Let us know what you do and then maybe someone could suggest something that will make it easy.

Good luck.

meet the neighbours - when I moved into my last house I organised a BBQ- I invited all the neighbours. They had never really talked and never socialised before (what are people like!) Several of us became very good friends and get together often - I now have friends to walk my dog with/ go for a coffee/ shopping and often have an invite to dinner etc at the weekend. I also know alot of people through clubs and night classes. If you reach out to people they will reach back more often that not!

The very best way to make new friends is to enroll in an evening class course that interests you...whether a new language or learning to swim, to five, Yoga, or how to cook Chinese or Indian food, whatever. You will meet 20-odd people who share your interest and thus have a very good reason to become friends.
Hanging around pubs is not the way, sorry!
Also, volunteering to help other people (it could be visiting people in hospital or reading to the blind...) will often prove very rewarding and bring you into contact with people like yourself who want to help out in their spare time.
Good Luck!

Hey you,
Some people find it really hard 2 make friends,am lucky in that respect..I used to be quite shy but for some reason making friends never used to be hard for me.. You must atleast have 1 friend to spend your time with, my advice would be to maybe ask a friend 2 invite there friends along. Then they invite there friends and so on n ssooo on.. Before u no it you know loadza people then you can decide who you would consider spending most of your time with... Easy.. lol

Join a gym or a club ...single people often go there and there are often social activities attached like quiz nights /speed dating/ etc .. you could either go to those or volunteer to help ..

Gym is always good cos you see some people regularly there so get chatting and see what happens

good luck!

Church is a good place to meet people. If you're not the religious type, try joining a health club.
