Yes, they will feel smooth...and will continue to feel smoother as you was them. But wash them in cold water only (even if the're white) and put about 5 dryer sheets in with them in the dryer.

they will until you wash them a couple of times but then they get the balls on them. We found out that they need to be at least 600 thread count before they feel soft even after washing.
My wife bought us 750 thread count and they are great.

They sound nice. I've also seen knit sheets - like a cotton jersey (t-shirt fabric).
