Great food, huge disparity in income and wealth, miserable infrastructure (try to take a taxi from the airport in Mumbai to the hotel without helmet!), beautiful palaces, political mess. If they can fix their infrastructure problem they may have a chance to become an economic powerhouse after China.

Normally I wouldn't touch this Q with a ten foot pole but today I feel ballsy. I think that Indians are taking more jobs away from American thans the dam Mexicans and at least the Mexicans are spending their money here so they are contributing to the commerce. I think that it's pretty unfair that an American who has worked in a computer field for 25+ years is now being layed off and the job given to an Indian that is fresh out of school. I don't know what you expected in the answers but that's mine.

India is a very big country. Be more specific. I don't know what my opinion is, but if I could, I would go their tomorrow. Love it. But I really can't say why - I think it's spiritual.

I have to agree with colorist, it's ridiculous our jobs are being outsourced to these countries. The companies want cheap labor, but what happens when we're all out of jobs and therefor money and can't by thier foriegn made crap. The country itself, from what I've seen, is filthy and over-populated. As General Patton said in the Middle East campaign in WWII, as taken from his book "War as I Knew It", "The people of this region are the filthiest I have yet seen."

A old rich cultured confusing nation with shocking inequality, but highly tolerant and has a bright future.

As far as taking jobs of a previous answerer is concerned, I understand his point, but thought that USA was all for free trade and capitalism.
