It could be your bites are too small. Increase the size of your bites SLIGHTLY and chew longer. This will make it more likely you swallow food rather than air.
By the way, if you drink lots of soda, it's probably carbonation, not air. Try water only with your meals for awhile and see if there is a difference.

chew 6 times on one side then 6 times on the other side then move it about in your mouth for a while and when it becomes a liquid-like thing swallow it. Do not hold your burps back afterwards, make sure the air gets out either at this end or the other end, otherwise you'll get painful windy tummy...poor you!

Chew each bite at least 10 if not 15 times. At first it takes great effort however, eventually if you stick with it, it will become second nature. This will also help with any indigestion that may be occurring as a result.

It is called AIROPHASIA.
This can also cause panic attacks, but if you try to chew with your mouth shut, and breathe through your nose, it won't be long before you are starting to find some relief.
PS"" Chew slowly , as this helps with digestion, and you don't take in as much air.

Put your eating utensil down between each bite. This will slow you down and give you time to chew and swallow between each bite. Take small sips of a beverage while eating; no large gulps. Hopefully this will help you.

I used to tell my kids to count to 5 before taking another bite.
It taught them to count & it caused them to slow down . It also
helps to actually chew your food more b4 swallowing. And to
take sips of your drink in between bites.
Some people hold conversations in between bites.
Try something you haven't done before.
